I had a good time shooting yesterday, took the Maverick to 82 M, first with the STX barrel and then later the heavy barrel which for some reason the 13 gr Zan slugs now work in.
I forgot to take some pictures but in spite of me never really getting the shot string to be as flat as i would assume it should be, well then the 2" shoot NC targets way out there got turned into Swiss cheese , and shots missing them was rare
Also i used all of my 700 mm barrel and so at a measly 60 BAR on the regulator i was pushing the 13 grain Zan at just over 1000 FPS
From there i went up in regulated pressure until i hit 100 BAR. but i really was not able to get a really flat shot string, also accuracy dident really change substantial no matter what i tried, i firmly blame this on my unability to get a flat shot string.
The reason i was able to shoot that fast with that little pressure ( not even using pin probe but do use high flow port )
Well i use a heavier hammer in brass ( part of a kit of 2 hammers and pin probe from Huma )
Clearly the PPL that use the ultra short valve opening and high pressure approach in a long gun, well they do not use all of their barrel to accelerator the pellet / slug for sure.
I was going to try 50 BAR on the regulator, but i am pretty sure the 60 BAR i was already at are very close to the minimum a FX regulator can do, well at least without messing the the washers on the REG.
Next week = no fun time, rain rain and more rain in the forecast.
The hottest ever July they talk about, well July in Denmark must be damn close to the coldest one ever.
