AirMarksman vs SaberTactical top rail

airmarksman backbone rail long 30moa vs. saber tactical trs rail

I was looking at both of these rails for my Impact, I know there is a 20 vs 30 moa difference, but what I’m looking at is the support. The airmarksman has that long rear extension to give the rifle a thicker “backbone” but the saber tac. doesn’t have that. How does the backbone compare, does that really help? Hurt? Matter? Does that rail actually give more rigidity?

Thank y’all for your time

Just installed the AM rail, medium length in 30 MOA. Nice machining work, well designed product. I haven’t shot the gun enough to know if it makes the impact more rigid or not, but I know one things for sure, it took away any concerns of wether it flexes or not, as it’s very stout.

Two negatives on it, one was shared by member 2L8 who also recently installed one, is it’s going to possible require you to get taller scope rings, or extend up your fx no limits.

The other negative is my own, and it’s that I miss my side picatinny rails as I used one as a mag holder, but I’ve got plans in the works to add side pic rails to the AM rail, but more forward

Access to the valve knob is way better now, also, and if you wanted to add the barrel clamp that barrelholdet.com makes you can with the AM rail, but with the ST rail you cannot

Installed my Backbone over a month ago.. I absolutely love it. And I think it dose look sexier. The fit is perfect it’s hard to qualify it’s performance because in the same timeframe I’ve added the FX barrel tensioner combined there’s a substantial difference to the positive. to me it just made sense to Stiffen the entire length, why go half way ?

I own both. I like both. The backbone is more robust. But, as mentioned by Bigragu, it slightly changes the check weld position (you'll need to press your cheek a little harder OR raise your scope 1/2" or so (I raised my scope). The Saber rail keeps your head in the same position (same cheek weld) as the OEM Impact rail, but isn't as rigid as the AM. So, what made sense to me was to put the 30 MOA AM rail on my superpowered .22 impact (slugs only) with a fixed, one-piece mount, and my Saber rails on my medium powered .22 (slugs and pellets) and competition pellet shooter, both using FX no limit mounts. Pros and cons with each. But, a lot more pros than cons. Fit and finish is nice on both. A bit more matte for the AM, gloss for the Saber. MM

Easy!
1. Get the shorter version! They have medium AND short version now. Or just chop it!

2. Get 90 degree pic rail adapter.

I have purchased that exact 90 deg pic rail. Also bought 45 deg pic rail and larger 90 deg pic rail from the same seller. They are all solid, given the price. I wouldn't mount a scope to them (😊), but they are more than adequate for accessories.

Any more news guys on the AM rail? Any real gains in accuracy?
I don't think there is a gain in accuracy with either rails, more like cosmetics... I don't want to start a debate about.
But I may have something for you in a week, waiting for a friends machine shop two months already he was busy, but hoping for a weekend he can start with my project.
