Airwolf MCT + HeliBoard = Ultimate Airwolf! Full Review Inside

Ronin001,

Here is the link to the item on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Daystate-mk4IS-mk4-IS-Airwolf-MCT-electronic-board/322385047964?_trksid=p2047675.c100012.m1985&_trkparms=aid%3D777003%26algo%3DDISCL.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131230161411%26meid%3Da802113616a840b5b7c780f91c5608b8%26pid%3D100012%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D322266466401

I copied/pasted the description below. I don't see Pulsar mentioned, but I'd suggest sending him a message through ebay to ask him directly.

This electronic board is meant to replace the 2 original electronic boards in daystate MK4is FAC (20ftlbs - 30ftlbs), Airwolf mct (30ftlbs - 37ftlbs)(cal 0.22) pcp airgun and make it full functional with enhanced features. Use in MK4is FAC cal .177 FAC (14-18ftlbs) produces a maximum of 24ftlbs . Not tested in Airwolf 0.177 yet.

hsnmz,

My response of the .25 would be the same as the above; I don't see .25 mentioned, but I'd suggest sending him a message through ebay and ask.

My Airwolf MCT sends 10 sorted JSB 18s into one rough hole at 50 yards. It usually looks something like this. The white center is .177 so the JSB 18s are basically stacking on top of each other.

Hi All;

I have been using that board on my mk4 panther 4.5 and airwolf 5.5 and I have fine tuned it. I mean really did that...

so with the 12fpe config on mk4 panther i am getting 160 shots! from 230 bar to 105 bar
with the 12fpe config on airwolf more than 700 shots! from from 230 bar to 120 bar

here is the config details in all 12 settings
(I am using yellow lines on each caliber)
4.5, 12fpe

5.5 30fpe

I put a Heliboard in my Air Wolf to get the pellets to the right speed to tighten up. I'm shooting at 50 yards tethered at 200 bar. The top 5 in a row were the 16s and the bottom 5 in a row were the 18s. The X out area was sighters for power change and scope adjustments. What surprised me is that the scope needed just a click or two from one pellet to another.
Here is what I used for power and speed. JSB 16 FPS Average 883 and JSB 18 average 900 FPS. The 16's shot a tighter group. For the 16's I used power 9 and the 18's I used power 11.
The 18's tended to have a flyer or two.
Overall the Heliboard is a great addition to the Air Wolf. You really can fine tune it better than any other rifle out there.

"AR"Did you find 883 to be the most accurate speed?
I went out yesterday and shot again (883). At 50 yards it is just accurate. I can't ask the gun to do more. The 18's were also good again at 900. But again It would produce a flyer here or there. When I say flyer I mean it throws a pellet about a half inch out of the group. I may play with the power on the 18s a bit more. I guess that is the beauty of the Heliboard. One of those purchases I don't regret.

Question sir. I have followed you some (because you really offer valuable input) you shoot tethered. So with this new heli board upgrade will you still need to?
I have been struggling between the new Crown or buying a used MCT and upgrading it. I promised myself that I am NOT going to buy anything until December to see how the Crown shakes out. The MCT new is just insane price wise. Your opine?

Even without the Heliboard, I don't think you need to shoot tethered. I shoot tethered a lot because I am obsessed with trying to find the proper "everything" at the middle of the curve range (about 200 psi). The Air Wolf gives a flatter curve with it's electronics. I can try to get a non tethered chrono group for you. My chrono has been losing it's data and crashing with about 75 shots lately. I'm having a lot of fun with the MCT lately. I never had a gun that I could tune to the pellet in 20 seconds.
Hard to say what I would choose in the future. The Crown will be fun when all the options will be available. it's kind of subjective on what people like. As for looks....... I personally think the Daystate's styling and wood is at the top for me.
It took me some extended time to purchase an electronic gun. It just sounds wrong. We were all brought up on the traditional mechanical trigger-hammer. The airgun is the perfect platform to use this technology. I figured with a spare board e.g. the Heliboard, I would have some future insurance on replacing parts. Also I have yet to hear of an issue. FX is using a lot of knobs and valving to achieve a result, and Daystate is using a circuit board. I think the majority of precision airguns are used by middle aged and up users because of the price, but the younger generation would probably choose electronics over mechanical any day. Just preference and understanding how everything works makes our choice. Sorry about the long rant but my wife is watching a girl TV program and this or anything is better. Let me know if I can give anymore information that I may or may not use.

For me the ultimate Airwolf is the MVT version with the chrony in the shroud. You can just set the pellet velocity to whatever you want and the reverse feedback loop in mine would set it to that within three or four shots. Thereafter it gave me an extreme spread within 6fps throughout the entire shot string (~150 shots depending on pellet and energy level).
The thing was an absolute laser gun. And this fool went and sold it because of that 'something new' itch... Sigh...
Don't know if the States ever got the MVT model?
Here in South Africa the daystate technician keeps stock of and installs the chronys, and from there it's a simple software update to the MCT board 👍 I'll have another one one day

I have my MCT .22 set at about 935 with jsb 18s on power 11. That is right about where mine was tuned by daystate. Tack driver at 50yds.

power 12 is 70v capacitor with max power config. Very accurate up to 30yds but then I see a few opening up farther out. That's my "finish the coon in the backyard" tune or decimate the squirrel at the feeder tune. I would not target shoot with it that hot.
