Alkin compressor outsmarted me , Or just dumb

I adjusted alkin w-31 to a hair over 4800 PSI , Yep pulled my three great white tanks in the garage Nice day 65 degrees, no wind and no humidity,,,, Air all three tanks and all check out at 4800 PSI.,. About two hours pass before I get them in the house , Once in the house I check gauges , Yep the ole cool down thing.. All read 4500 just about perfect on all three.
Brain fart here , Now if I adjust to 5000 psi will I blow my pressure reliefs ???? If it's not one thing it's another with these dam guns yep should I shoot the flat heads or the domes tomorrow, Should I trade out that scope for a red dot just for kicks???? 177, 22, or 25 caliber tomorrow, Yep just another thing .

I do a hot fill to 5000 every time. If it's just a top off.....(3500 to 5000) I end up at about 4600 -4700 psi. If a fill from empty on an 88 cu ft.........5000 usually cools down to around 4150 -4200 psi . My pressure relief is set to 5000.

Though you are probably very safe, I never exceed the 4,500 psi recommended fill pressure level. I think we all take fior granted the lethality of the pressures we work with every day. I remember when we all thought 3000 psi was so dangerous.

I tried increasing the Alkin's pressure relief to 4800 psi several years ago. Even though an Alkin is robust I noticed that my electrical system and the Alkin's motor were laboring after the pressure exceeded 4500 psi. The wear and tear was not worth an extra fill or two so I went back to the 4500 max setting. I have two tanks and am not running the compressor more than once a month on average. The strain on my system wasn't worth it for me.

Always pushing the boundaries I am. Everything in life and now this.
F it ,overcharge the gun, run compressors to 5000 ( Gx goes to 5800, Tuxing says 4500)

I actually went over my 4500 set pressure once as I have a manual alkin w31. Pressure relief valve blew... ssuper oud noise- lots of air rushing out the valve. Shut the machine off. Bled it. And it reset automatically. Ready to fill again.

Why in the world are you guys with these big compressors worried about filling to the last psi? Only enough room in the car for 1 tank?
