Alkin W31 Motor Problem need Help.

Ayden at Alkin is who you should be dealing with. He is very knowledgeable and has been very responsive to my needs. I looked at the sideplate on my motor and it is nearly identical to the motor you have that "blew" as @miamiguy2017 states. I have several questions though.

1. A blown motor doesn't run at all. It is shorted out or burned up. If this one "runs slow" it is most likely a bad start capacitor or run capacitor. I'm surprised if Ayden was involved that that wasn't his first recommendation to replace. Was it?

2. Just because the name plate on that motor is 2021 doesn't automatically make it a "used" motor. A motor could be manufactured in one year and sold later. It's not going to go bad or have design changes from year to year. Are there signs that this one had be used before? It would be helpful to see photos of the old and new motors. Do they look significantly different?

3. I'm not an electrician. However, the specs on the side plate of the replacement motor indicate that it indeed may have the same running performance as one marked 60HZ. The reason is that a 60HZ motor runs at 20% faster than a 50HZ motor. Your motor plate says 50HZ @ 2811 rpms. At 60HZ then it will run @ 3373 rpms which is what 60HZ motors are supposed to run at. It could be that the name plate is worrying you unnecessarily. Have you installed the motor? Does it sound labored?

4. If you paid retail for a new motor because this one was out of warranty you could have purchased many U.S. motors to replace it. A 4HP 60HZ motor with similar specs can be purchased from Lincoln or several other brands for $250-400. If Alkin charged as much and you aren't satisfied and haven't installed it I'd send it back for refund and get a U.S. brand with a warranty. I doubt that Alkin would send you a lesser powered motor than what you originally purchased.

I paid $500 for this motor. Could you please send me the link to a US motor with the required specs including the 100L mount.

If your not comfortable troubleshooting the caps etc., do you have a electrician buddy that can help. I've been a electrician for 29 years and 90% sure it's the caps. Fix the one you have and send the other one back.

Well actually the wires on the old motor are melted so i think it might need more than the caps brother.

I believe that the replacement motor they sent you will work just fine, you may notice a difference in fill speed on a large tank, but at the rate these compressors work it should be negligible.
The Alkins have come configured several different ways to offer different rates of fill I think.
Here is mine

Mine is the 4.9Cfm model. Specs list the 3kw 60hz motor.

Local company wanted $400 to repair the motor thats the price of a new one.
Lol.. that's how it is here now . Use to take a ele motor in to be repaired for a few bucks now your better off buying another .. we had a nice shop next town over did great affordable work . ( Key wording is "we had") .

Duaaa.. I looked at your first post and the tag pictures . On the right side you see that "UF" thing with the 189-227 ? That's your cap info

I don't see a 70 but these 65 should do ..

Not a electrical expert....lol.

"220 volt " ones

Though best to read the actual on the cap info in the unit being they can't send you the correct motor. ..lol

Now with that

I assume your not running on 110 instead of 220 and seeing these issues?
