Huben All Things HUBEN K1 - Master Thread

@_CTAIRGUNNER_ @Ezana4CE @brawler1588

Hey guys, I just recently got a huben k1 .25 2022 from another member here and I noticed my shroud does not have the holes near the end, is that just a carbon fiber shroud thing? And is the carbon fiber shroud supposed to be quieter than the standard shroud?
Send me a picture of yours if you don't mind.

Also, do any of you have any experience with shooting the Apolo slugs? I know not too many people have had great luck shooting the Apolos out of their guns, but that has not been my case in most ocasions. On top of that I understand that most if not all would ward everyone from shooting anything smaller than .253 out of the hubens, but despite these slugs being .2505, they shoot very well for what they are and I haven't had a single jam yet. Occasionally I tap the mag on the buttstock so the slugs move back, but that's only when loading the mag if I had the barrel pointed downwards.

I rarely shoot for groups or bench shoot, either way I still strive to shoot half moa or better depending on the distanc I mainly pest control for iguanas 5-6 days a week. That being said, I decided to shoot 12 groups today. It was supposed to be 9 groups, 5 shots each, but after the first go round not going as planned. I decided to shoot another 3 groups of 5.

First picture will show all of the groups. The 3 stickers at the top are for the 33gr Apolos. I initially shot the groups that are directly below the target. I didnt have a tall enough table to shoot, so I used what I had. My kids craft chair and a glass patio table, it was too unstable and shaky, so I decided to just lay prone on our brick patio and the rest of the groups were shot the same from there.

I shot the groups from about 23.5yds. For the first go round using the chair, the groups were averaging .59" . Second round of 33gr were an average of .406". The group of 40gr in the middle area are an average of .575". And the bottom 3 are for the 33.94 mkii and those were an average of .49".

33gr Apolo were going 990-1000fps
40gr Apolo were going 932fps
34gr MKII were going 990-1000fps

Regulator is at about 152b

Also I understand this is just 23.5yds but I have been taking out iguanas out to 70yds since getting this Huben and have gotten plenty of iguanas and muscovys.

Not sure if I am posing this in the right area. I just bought a Huben K1 I am excited who has the best small priced hard case. I forgot to mention I am looking for a case that I can lock I plan to fly to florida to hunt iguanas.
Thanks,
Jonathan.
Check out harbor freight, they have some rather good cases for a not so bad price even better when they are on sale. Also I do iguana tours in south florida.

I know you are primarily talking about you 2018 .25 Huben but you had mentioned the 2021 .22 . and slugs.

The opinion of some well-known Huben shooters, and a manufacturer or 2, all say to use .219/5.56 slug. I personally have found this to be true in my 2021 .22.
I use the ZAN .219/5.56 , 28gr in mine getting outstanding results.
I tried Many others and those were the most accurate, trouble free i found to this point.

I had to order mine direct from ZAN, but as always they shipped fast as hell and pricing comes out to be about the same as any US dealer.

Hope this helps with your .22 !
@bfloyd1095 Interesting. I have the .22/5.55, 25.5 grain slugs and they fit loosely in the mag of my 2020 Huben K1.

View attachment 344157However, I don’t understand how .219 is a larger diameter than .22 caliber.

If that isn’t the case, do you think it has something to do with magazine changes between production years of these guns?

I can say this. The labeling on my box of .22 Zan slugs is just wrong. I measured several slugs from this box and they measured between .217-.218. This size fits loosely in the Huben K1 magazine.

I have some cast slugs that consistently measure .223 or very close to it and they fit in my K1 magazine snugly. I realize that they are not perfectly concentric and rotated the slugs measuring several. They consisistnely measured within .222-.223 range. They also shoot acceptably in my experience. So in the future I will order some .219 and some .223 and see what I notice about my K1 in particular.

What do you deem acceptable in terms of accuracy? I also just got a bunch of Varmint Knocker slugs to try out in my huben

@JaceSpace1369 Look at the first post in this thread. The group on the bottom target from 50 yards. For me, my abilities, and experience with this rifle that’s an acceptable group. The Zan slugs I bought don’t fit properly and they suck shooting from my K1.

I’d like to try some varmint knockers, but I have yet to slug my barrel. I’m not sure which diameter will work well. What worries me is removing the barrel and not re-aligning it properly upon reassembly.

Let us know how your K1 shoots those slugs.
