I think that my Huben could use some more dampening with a moderator affixed. I'm interested in what @JaceSpace1369 experiences with his.

@daddypaddy Definitely understandable. I'm still getting used to carrying this longer version around in the woods. The extra 5" makes a big difference to me.let us know if the inserts make a noticeable difference. i ended up making a silencer for mine and it makes a world of a difference. if the insert can bring the sound report down as much as the silencer i made, i’ll use that instead. i wanna keep the k1 as short as possible
The notos is a relatively quiet gun on it's own, so that's really quiet. I'm shooting the 28.5gr 223 VK slugs at 972fps, it's definitely quieter with my huma mod 30 but the gun doesnt like the .22 sized mod as it will produce flyers. I am hoping that it reduces the amount of noise by a good bit. And yeah, I prefer my guns on the shorter side, so if this insert can make it as quiet as with the Huma than that would be more than a good enough investment.i don’t have a meter to measure the decibels but it’s definitely quieter with the moderator on. im shooting 36.8gr nsa at around 930fps and i can hear the slug swishing through the air into the distance. i think it’s quieter than my notos.
Kelly sells a plug that goes inside the shroud infront of where you secure the shroud with the screw to prevent least dust from blowing back and out of the vents.I’m not a fan of venting lead dust towards my nostrils. I do not understand the logic in this design. I prefer the vents away from my face and using a moderator.
Given that your in a basement I want to say that's not too bad. Factory set up is about as loud as a 17hmr with a can on it.Here is what I found on my gun with Jake's insert a few years back, copied and pasted form an old post:
Here is what I got in dB levels as measured in my finished basement with the phone about a meter from the muzzle (with lots of potential echo sources, but over carpet). The Huben is a .22 shooting JSB 18.1 grain pellets at 920 fps, and the LDC is a Huma Compact .30 cal (oversized for multiple uses and best accuracy). Of course the values below are only good for comparison to each other, and probably don't represent a "good" number of the actual loudness, since it is just a smart phone app and also was not done in the open. But they match what I hear on a relative basis.
Factory baffles, no LDC: 115 db
New Insert, no LDC: 112 db
Factory Baffles, with LDC: 107 dB
New Insert, with LDC: 102 dB
I will definitely share my findings this week once I get my hands on it.I think that my Huben could use some more dampening with a moderator affixed. I'm interested in what @JaceSpace1369 experiences with his.
5” makes a very noticeable difference@daddypaddy Definitely understandable. I'm still getting used to carrying this longer version around in the woods. The extra 5" makes a big difference to me.
That's what I am referring to as well. Kelly makes a plug to prevent the lead dust from reaching the vent holes towards the back and expelling near your face.@JaceSpace1369 I was speaking of shroud designs where the vent holes are located close to the receiver.
Ayy that's really quiet for putting out 70fpei’m using the ios decibel x app and the phone is roughly about 12ft away from front of the muzzle. the db app shows the shot spike at 83.8 from the same location on the grass.
Has it made a difference?i taped over 4 of the 5 rows of vent holes to test for sound and kept it that way for about a week now.
Only CF shrouds have them towards the receiver.@JaceSpace1369 I have not seen a K1 with shroud vent holes on the receiver end of the shroud. The vent holes on mine are located towards the muzzle.
@JaceSpace1369 First time I've seen that. Thank you. That shop's prices are high as Snoop Dog.Has it made a difference?

Nº 98 (Former Nº 109) · Complete Barrel Shroud for Huben K1
This is the complete shroud for the K1's barrel. Available both in carbon fiber or aluminum and for both calibers (.22 and .25). The Huben shroud covers the barrel and also provides for sound suppression.www.hubenairguns.shop

Yeah the price is nuts, arestactical has it for $230 which is a drastic drop in price from Huben. But still a pretty penny.@JaceSpace1369 First time I've seen that. Thank you. That shop's prices are high as Snoop Dog.
That shop is the Wolfiek Group in Spain, not the Huben manufacturer.Yeah the price is nuts, arestactical has it for $230 which is a drastic drop in price from Huben. But still a pretty penny.
I gotcha, I know Huben doesn't have a shop of their own, it's a force of habit. That shop is the Wolfiek Group in Spain, not the Huben manufacturer.
@JaceSpace1369 Have you received your insert yet?, If so, how is it working for you?I should be receiving his shroud insert sometime this week if the post office in CA gets their act together. It's been floating around the facilities since last Tuesday. I am also receiving a .218 sized Huben Magazine from Kelly on Tuesday so I will see how the .218 slug and .217 slugs fit and measure them, then test them throughout the week.
I received it but it doesn't fit in the shroud, I told the member and he mentioned that my unvented shroud is a different length than the vented shrouds. So he said I could this one but he made me a new one to my measurements. It should be here early next week, I think.@JaceSpace1369 Have you received your insert yet?, If so, how is it working for you?
I was too lazy to grab my phone a photograph it. It looks like a 3D printed solid tube that is hollow in the center to allow your caliber of choice’s projectile to pass through unobstructed.can we see a picture of this 3d printed insert?
The insert seriously makes a noticeable reduction in sound when used in conjunction with a moderator. I’m running a Donny FL Tanto. I just tested it shooting five 18.1 grain diabolo pellets in .22 caliber. I was hitting what I was aiming at offhand. No evidence of clipping in that shot string.let us know if the inserts make a noticeable difference. i ended up making a silencer for mine and it makes a world of a difference. if the insert can bring the sound report down as much as the silencer i made, i’ll use that instead. i wanna keep the k1 as short as possible
You're welcome! I am happy to hear it works!I was too lazy to grab my phone a photograph it. It looks like a 3D printed solid tube that is hollow in the center to allow your caliber of choice’s projectile to pass through unobstructed.

To install it I removed the factory baffle stack. First I emptied the magazine, then I removed the moderator adaptor, next I took a wire to pull out the first 3 baffles. Then I tilted the gun muzzle down and the remaining baffles fell out into my hand. I dropped in the insert in the direction of the arrow drawn on it. It way situated just below the threads on the end of the shroud. Finally I replaced the moderator adaptor.
Thank you @JaceSpace1369
Without a moderator the k1 is quieter regardless of power level. With a mod , the FX is the quieter one regardless of power. Now.Those who own both the Huben K1 and FX Impact M3/M4 in .25 caliber, how does the noise level compared at the same FPE, with and without Moderator?
Do these Huben K1 have the 1st cold shot syndrome (slow first shot fps after the gun sitting overnight or a few days) like Impact do?
