Sounds like you need to polish/lap the barrel so it's roughly the same all the way though. The magazines are always oversized and although the chambers should all be the same size, they range in size is large. The chambers in the mag can be as small as 2195 to as big as 224. You definitely got an ehh barrel. But the best pellets I've been able to use have been the AEA as their skirts are 224 but the head sizes are .219 so they do fall or jiggle in the mag.Huben barrel/magazine problem.
My huben .22 magazine is very wide vs barrel ..
5.52jsb is loose, jsb rsd and beast works but fit is nor tight.
hn baracuda cphp only one not moving in mag (as new i could shoot 5.52jsb) does the mag get worn? Maybe 1000+shots.
Beast or rsd shoots best.
Slugs
.216 falls trough,no .218 slug will keep tight, .219zan fits mag good but is tight in barrel+shoots like crap(alot of flyers allready at 25-30)
last time i tested .219zan had to pull the barrel and clean couse jsb beast stopped hitting after on magazine zan, from 0.5" ctc to 2-3" at 30yards.
When i push a pellet/slug trough barrel, the first 2" in breech is wery tight ! Then looser the whole way,a little tight again at muzzle.
Is that normal ? Or is my huben a monday examplei really like the gun but magazine/barrel tolerance drives me crazy !
Modell year is 2021.
That's me! Give what he has said, the mag won't fix the issue though. That barrel needs some work, and my mag is strictly for .218 slugs, .217 will slide a bit. They had some mag. issues. There is a custom .218" mag on classifies that you could try. You will have to reset the mag to barrel align.
Need to order som AEASounds like you need to polish/lap the barrel so it's roughly the same all the way though. It happens with all guns in all prices sadly. I've owned two k1 and two gk1s all were great, no issues with them unless I messed up. They definitely need to tighten up on the magazine size tolerances.Need to order som AEA
I have polished and mild lapping,i have touht about lapping the barrel more to bee same size all the way next time i pull the barrel. I have noticed the mag chamber are not equal size. Been thinking about having a custom mag and new barrel made maybe.
Nice to buy a 2000 priced gun and you have to tinker it like it was a 200 cheapo![]()
Thats true.. cheaply made and retailers etc make them high end priced, FX the same. I have never understud the point of huben making the magazine bigger then the barrel ? Should have used the older 12groove mag maybe.. do you know if huben has adressed issues in a 2024 modell or os it the same ?It happens with all guns in all prices sadly. The 2018 and older mags are 12groove mags that match the barrel. My previous one had it, you just gotta ask Kelly if he has it. You can buy them from him as well.Thats true.. cheaply made and retailers etc make them high end priced, FX the same. I like the gun alot and if i use right pellets dont have issues, still barrel/mag bothers me. And it is not 100% reliable with jsb beast. But i have like 30tins of them![]()
I would, but iam in finlandThe 2018 and older mags are 12groove mags that match the barrel. My previous one had it, you just gotta ask Kelly if he has it. You can buy them from him as well.
For the price of having one custom-made by somebody up there, you may as well. Let's see about contacting kelly, and see if he be willing to ship it to you. I don't know if finland has certain laws that would make it hard to do so or not.I would, but iam in finlandmay need to have one custom made
mine is a 2020 .25 and the unchoked barrel. the initial push from the back end is snug and gradually smoother towards the front.. still snug but noticeably smoother.Huben barrel/magazine problem.

The mags aren't rifled, they just have groves the match the rifling on the barrel.i have a 2020 .25 k1 with non-rifled magazine..
not sure if anyone here knows anything about a 2020 non-choked barrel, but does anyone know the twist ratio for them?
that’s what i meant. mine are smooth, no grooves. The mags aren't rifled, they just have groves the match the rifling on the barrel.
Have you thought about polishing this tightness out of the back half so it matches the front? I've done it successfully using the 3M polishing paper wrapped around a cotton bore mop.mine is a 2020 .25 and the unchoked barrel. the initial push from the back end is snug and gradually smoother towards the front.. still snug but noticeably smoother.
i’ve tried some .254 slug and it the gun hates them. sounds just like yours with those zans at 20-30 yards..
i’ve considered it but too scared to do it. i have cleanroom environment diamond abrasive sheets 200-5000 grit.Have you thought about polishing this tightness out of the back half so it matches the front? I've done it successfully using the 3M polishing paper wrapped around a cotton bore mop.

Those abrasive sheets would be perfect. I tend to polish and or smooth every barrel I get to fix internal blemishes or to try to tighten up accuracy. It usually improves, and I've luckily never outright screwed up a barrel's accuracy for good. I'd suggest researching polishing it a little on this forum and then just try working the back half a little at a time and test fit pellets or slugs often to start. Don't be too aggressive on the abrasives. It doesn't take much grit to smooth a bore and polish it. When it slides front to back evenly your done smoothing, then test shoot it.i’ve considered it but too scared to do it. i have cleanroom environment diamond abrasive sheets 200-5000 grit.
did your gun benefit from it?
my gun shoots fine so i’m fighting the part of me that wants to do it just to make myself feel better about knowing the slight tightness.

The thing about barrels and or chokes is they don't need much distance on the front end of the barrel to make them accurate. But if the projectile starts out tight and gets loose, that's bad because it is loose on the front.
