Altaros Booster for Dummie (Me)

Hey guys

After having problems with my AV booster I decided to purchase a backup booster. I bought an Altaros booster from a fellow member. I am seeking advice on how to properly set it up and run it with the equipment I have.

I read all the instructions and have done my best to follow them. Problem is: the instructions seem a bit off, kinda like they could have hired a better translator. That and my own insecurities. So, I am running it with a Husky 5.1CFM compressor. I read that the max output from my compressor should be 10 bar. So I set my compressor accordingly. Then I tried to get a 60/40 (compressor running/compressor off) ratio going. I think I achieved this with 1min13secs/47secs ratio.

I am seeking any info, advice, etc that could help me.

Another thing I noted wich is really baffling me: When I ran the AV booster, a decent amount of water was shed from my water separators/filters. When I run the Altaros, almost no water is shed/captured. What gives?

Thank you for all your input!

"Maineiac"The Altaros uses a desiccant filter rather than the water separator in the AV. The beads are replaceable and inside a tube in the unit. Are you getting any moisture when you bleed the line at the end of the fill?

Not sure yet about that. Don't think so though. My point was that I have water separators and filters on the low end, my air comes from the Husky 5.1 and into a water cooler with ice, from there it enters two water separators in a row, after which I have a particulate/moisture filter. Then it enters the booster. I was getting lots of water before with the AV (prior to air going into booster, I don't see why the Altaros should be different if it is downstream of the low pressure filters I have in place.

"Rami939"Water cooler with ice before the water traps ?
I don't know from where you've got that idea, but, for sure is not in the Altaros manual .
Your compressor seems to be adequate for the task,if,it deliver 5 CFM at 90 psi .
Compressor
water traps
Lower pressure filtration
Altaros
High pressure filter (if needed)
Bottle.
Gun/have fun !

The basic idea is that the water separators can't filter out water out of hot air b/c its too thin. The air coming out of the Husky is hot. Most people that run a booster will allow for the air to cool one way or another before it hits the Filters. This worked as described (a lot of water) when I was using the AV booster. Was looking for a reason why I saw very little water in my filters with Alteros.
Thanks for the feedback on the compressor.
