Aluminium standard FX magazine housing

Not content with the fact that my €2k pew pew came with a magazine made from plastic, I made one from 7075 on the cnc. The model is this one from GrabCad with a few minor tweaks because of my machine's current tool setup (and because round endmills maketh no square holes). For now it's just the housing, might do the inner casette and retainer lip later too.

There's absolutely zero magazine wiggle now, and it cycles perfectly with (so far) Croman premiers, JSB knockouts and ZAN 36 grain slugs, .22 cal. Now I'm not down €120,- and I'm slightly less incompetent at cnc machining :)

Nice work.

I bought the EAGLEVISION, aluminum magazine that Utah Airguns sells for my M3.
On one hand I do like it, on the other hand, yeah, it's not tight, or even snug while in the breach block. I thought of adding something to make it a little tighter, but decided that a little looseness is ok. It lets the pellet probe center the pellet as it goes into the barrel breach.

Shooting the factory magazine vs the EAGLEVISION, there is no obvious difference in accuracy, so I' fine either way. The EAGLEVISION magazine stays in my M3.

Again, nice work Der - .

I'd buy some...but am guessing that shipping from the Netherlands is going to be spendy.
Thanks! But I don't think I'd be entirely comfortable shipping to people who pay me for my work for the time being; it took a fair amount of filing and scotch brite to get things to fit really nicely and to cycle reliably, might tweak some dimensions in future iterations. Maybe I'll sell some in the future I'm more confident in my own abilities and I have production facilities that are actually mine (which currently, I don't).

 That'll be about 3 days worth of babying my poor little Nomad around, judging by how tedious getting the feeds and speeds in alu was. Also, titanium is quite a lot heavier than aluminium.
You just need the right end mill, in all seriousness, and as much as detest saying this because the guy that owns the company is a dick. Destiny Tools makes a variable helix end mill. It works great in Aluminum. No chatter. I knew the guy that designed it, before said dick screwed him over on the patent.

The chatter comes from the rigidity of the machine, or rather, lack thereof. However, turns out I was milling 7075 instead of 6061, like I thought I was.

Well, after three days of dicking around with feeds and speeds I settled on something that won't get me lynched by the neighbors, and the first one I made on my own machine is done! Same housing as the standard FX mag, just made from 7075 alu (good God I'm making future ones out of 6061, the absolute racket of milling this material..). Just disassemble the factory mag and drop the parts into the new housing. Doesn't wiggle around once it's in the gun, and everything I tried in it so far cycles perfectly: H&N FTT power pellets, Nielsen 23 grain and ZAN 36 grain slugs.

If you're still interested; maybe we can work something out.
