Always spell out your packaging expectations!

I just recently purchased an airgun from Krale and foolishly assumed I didn’t need to specify how to safely wrap an airgun.

Well, I was wrong and found out the hard way. You can learn from my mistake:

Krale did understand the concept of double boxing, but botched the rest.

1. If it’s a heavy airgun, the space between the inner and outer box should not depend on air pillows. They will burst when the gun shifts as the package is abused by whatever carrier gets their hands on it. Ask me how I know. There needs be bubble wrap or foam or anything besides those pillows which are not designed to protect heavy objects.

2. Ask them to tape all of the sides of the inner box to keep it from bursting open and dumping contents into the outer box. Be sure to ask they surround with enough bubble wrap to cushion it from a fall.

Check out the way they wrapped the inner box on my Kral. This looks like some thing I made up, but this is how they wrapped the inner box:

The gun, the pellets I ordered, and all the accessories were just loose in an outer box. There wasn’t a scratch on the air gun, so I guess I lucked out that there was only one drop or impact and not another once the items were loose.

Mighty disappointing for sure. Not what one would expect coming from a big name manufacturer. I had a similar experience with a private sale from a well known member here who shall remain nameless. Member had enough positive reviews that I didn’t deem it necessary to ask for at least an attempt at decent packaging. My fault for ASSuming. Gun and associated parts were thrown into a box along with a couple pieces of wadded up paper. I was dissatisfied enough to send a pm expressing how I felt and basically got a shoulder shrug of words that I basically felt was a middle finger.

Complete and total bullhockey! Whether it’s $200 or $2000 it should receive the respect it warrants. You see, as I look at it, once paid, it’s THEIR property! Not mine! That means put in as much care as possible and ship it as soon as possible. Act like an honorable vendor. Maybe that’s why I don’t get complaints. I had 2 in all my sales that were beyond my control. And we’re remedied to buyers satisfaction.

I bought several new guns from Krale, after I received one that was obviously used, I decided it wasn't worth the hassle to save a few bucks and will deal with companies in the US.
Used gun as new ? That’s just crap… especially since the likelihood of a return is low so long as it’s operating fine.
( shipping across the Atlantic is a pain )

In regard to packing. Pack it like it’s going to Ukraine or Afghanistan is my mantra ….jk

I agree 100% and would have been more comfortable ordering from a US retailer, but Krale was the only place that had the Kral that I was looking for. The gun is just fine (loving it in fact) but I’m still kicking myself for not having the common sense to double check on their packaging plan.

If they had just taped the sides of the inner box…

I’m sure I’m preaching to the choir, but next time I order an airgun from anybody, I will be making sure the inner box is wrapped in a few layers of bubble wrap and throughly taped. Trying to figure out what is reasonable to request to go in the space between the two boxes because the air pillows clearly don’t cut it for a heavy gun.

Krale was responsive and apologetic and replaced the pellets and one of the magazines that was damaged. I would be a little happier if they refunded some percentage of the gun cost since it’s kind of like receiving a used gun ( you know it’s been through something but you’re not sure what).
A % refund on a new gun without a scratch. Now that there is damn funny. I think you actually shined a light on what kind of customer you are. No offense of course.

I have purchased 3 long airguns from Krale over the last year, and can honestly say their packaging for shipment sucks. Factory box thrown into an oversize box maybe a piece of bubble wrap around the center of that factory box. it still slides and slipps around. I have been lucky, no damage to any gun, but outer boxes severly damaged, hole punched through or crushed, A proper filler around the inner box would secure the gun more securely and certainly do more to prevent potential damage. Like I said I was lucky, but they need to be educated on how to properly package expensive item.

That sucks. When I bought my Bullpup at least all the extra pellets were in a plastic bag but they were tossed in like an afterthought too.
Even though you request a respectable packing job in the end the shipping department decides what and how it ships.
Guitar Center once shipped me a very nice expensive guitar in its original box but the box it was put in was bigger by at least 4 inches all around.
The original box and bubble wrap are what saved the guitar from damage luckily.

Hey now that’s not nice. :)

There were a few small scratches on the bottom of the stock but nothing too bad.

I think you might’ve had the same reaction if you saw the state the package was in, but maybe you’d be fine with it like you say and if so good for you.

I’d be pretty angry. There is No excuse for not packing correctly.
So disrespectful and unprofessional
