Amazed At The Accuracy of My Refurbished Daisy 880 !

I have a couple of 880's that I have dumped old parts and replaced with new. One of the gun's that has a black stock has been on my bad girl list for a while as she has been low on the power scale. I think I have found the reason and fixed that issue --- will post that later.

In the meantime I have been doing a little shooting indoors using Beeman 8.5gr Pointed Pellets, a CP 4x32 scope and a Geo LDC to keep her mouse f%#t quiet.

The first group is a five shot group at 16 yds that measures about 5/8" edge to edge, using the cheapo Beeman Pointed and 10 pumps.

The second group is a three shot group at 13 yds using again the Beeman Pointed with 10 pumps, it measures 3/8" edge to edge.

To say that I'm very pleased would be an understatement. This gun was given to me broken by a co-worker, I had to get a new stock and receiver as they were cracked, the seals were in bad shape, and I could go on !!

The pellets are not the hunting type pellets I use in my other 880's (I use Crosman Premier Heavies at 10.5gr as they have a great BC and give me about 6 fpe at 45 yds) .... I never shoot my 880's at that range, about 35 yds is my longest range I would go after small pest size game (Starlings, Pigeons, HOSP, Rats, and the like, and would go after Squirrel and Rabbits in the 20-25 yrd range with head shots)

The Daisy 880 is really a sleeper for sure.

I picked one up at W-mart last summer for 35 bucks.

Did some minor tinkerin' and it will group JSB 8.44's (10) under 1/2 in at 20 yds.

Ya I have a few Daisy 880's, even a couple I picked up refurbished at Field Supply for $29.00 shipped (these guns look brand new BTW).

Even though they are plastic and stamped parts on the outside, with a little bit of care, they can be great guns and capable of very,very good accuracy and enough power for small game in the 25-35 yard range.

These guns are sleepers for sure.

Have my 880 first pellet gun as a kid in the early 70’s to this day when it was the all metal receiver and pump handle. Call daisy couple years ago about a rebuild kit. Unfortunately they said they don’t have parts for the Metal receiver 880 so I went to Wally World and bought a new 880 and took it apart to see what the difference where. What found was the new style other than the plastic receiver and pump handle was the shot tube assembly is all one piece and it has a rifled barrel unlike the metal 880 which was a smoothbore barrel. No wonder I could not hit crap with the gun accurately when I was young. So I did some grinding on the metal receiver to retrofit the new shot tube. Let me tell you I can group @30 yards with jsb 10.34 3/4 to half inch. Good enough for me. First time since owning the gun that this old 880 is a shooter. Called up daisy had them send me a shot tube to replace the one I took off the Wally World 880. Now I have 2 880 old and new that group the same with jsb 10.34. Both have the bug buster scopes on them. They are now in my collection that I take out to shoot in rotation

Here's my Wal-mart special. Poured @3/4's of a tin of Crosman Piranha's in the stock for some weight (Best use I could find for them.) followed by some canned spray-in insulation to hold everything quietly in place.

Sprayed the stock/fore end with bed liner and...Presto! Also glued a little silicone bumper to the top of the butt plate so it can be sat in a corner without sliding out.
