FX Ambidextrous squirrel rifles

Hello. I am looking at purchasing a fx wildcat sniper to squirrel hunting with but it seem the magazine will be in the way? , any input greatly appreciated. What other recommendations? Thank you
Maybe look at other brands where the magazine is not in the way. Myself? Am not a fan of huge, bulbous magazines on any PCPs… Good luck in your search… Or use the Wildcat as a single shot gun… sleek, but slow follow ups if they’re needed.

If you're looking for compact and not a ton of power, AGT Vixen. If you don't care too much about compact and want power, U2 600mm or Vulcan 3 500mm/700mm ambidextrous, no protruding mag and all powerful, or can be set up for a ridiculous amount of shots.

Impacts are a no go for me. Magazine is in the way big time. My Caiman is fine but a little noisy with the action against my face. My favorites are my P35s (Stoeger bullshark is about the same). Much lower price but nice guns in my opinion. If you want more power there is the P35X.
There are aftermarket parts you can get for a left hand friendly impact, but again you're just dropping more money.

"Ambidextrous squirrel rifles"

Dustin,

Be sure to look at safety location. Looking for a lefty I've seen many safeties that are push from the right side which makes a rapid 'off' a bit slower.
I also prefer the cocking lever on the right hand side... you don't have to take your hand off the grip to recock it.

I bought an AGT Uragan2 - 700mm. Heavy and Looong, but quite powerful. Safety button is located on both sides of the action. For a shorter rifle, AGT has the vulcan3 500mm and the safety is inside the trigger guard I believe. AGT also has the Uragan2 Compact in 22, much shorter and lighter. The Uragan2's and I believe the Vulcan3's(?) you can move the cocking lever to whichever side you want.

Talon Tunes has the AGT's.

Dustin,

"My favorite squirrel rifle is a Taipan Vet1 standard." Headshots

The Taipan Veteran (1's) are ambidextrous... the safety is in the trigger guard and the cocking handle can very easily switched to either side. I've got the Veteran1 Compact in 25 Caliber, really handy in my small truck. Mines quiet too. The Veteran 1's have an anti double feed, which is really nice. The only pox on them is the cocking handle is at the rear, but that's only an issue to some.

Taipan came out with the Veteran 2, but again Talon tunes still have some. If you can find one in the classifieds you'll do much better price wise.

A factor to be considered is where the gun cocks. I am right handed but left eye dominant. I want to cock with my right hand. My P35s thus work great and my Caiman X is fine because I switched it to the right. I do not want a gun that cocks in the rear because the cocking lever would be in my face.

Another factor important to me is weight. PCPs have to do a lot more than a PB and thus tend to be heavier. P35s are only about 5 lbs, however. They have a sturdy but compact plastic stock and a 450mm barrel. The barrel length and short stiff hammer spring limit power. But my 177 and 22 will get heavy pellets up over 800 fps so I think they are fine. But my 25 caliber won't get to 800 fps with the 34 grain pellets it prefers. So they are certainly not perfect but I know of no other air rifle as light and short with good power and good accuracy. Being relatively inexpensive is nice too but it was never why I got and remain attracted to them.
