AMP Regulator is creepy..

Well I do not have much knowledge off the huben, but the AMP reg and huma regs are almost identical. Regarding the piston, and seat, I would believe it is the same design as on 80-90 persentage off all other guns. Some might use other springs than the washers, but the washer design is very common. When I mentioned about comparing owners, I meant not you specifically, but all the thousands off other owners. The reg on a impact is easy to damage, if you screw it in the wrong way, or doeas not follow the right procedure. The more times you adjust it, the greater the chance it is that you forgot doing it the right way.

Same here with my FX guns. I also never degas my plenum with my reg unless it’s an emergency. If I have to take the gun apart, I shoot down to my regs set point then unscrew the bottle. It degasses the whole gun and I never have to touch my reg. Impact and Dreamtac. Until there is some major advancements in reg technology, I won’t treat my regs like a thermostat. With my two Impact slug guns, once I find a tune I’m staying with, if I had to play with the regs a good bit to get there, I swap in new pistons once I know the set points I’ll be sticking with.

Does de-gassing with the bleed screw on the plenum hurt the reg in some way? I have the tube version Dreamline with the reg into the plenum.

Last night I searched for a video or any information about how to remove this newer AMP reg from a dreamline. I removed the adjustment screw and cleaned it up with the microfiber sanding paper but it appears this also take a T35 (torx) on the outside of that?
I'm not sure if the regulator body is sideways in the tube or what.. as anyone ever show how to remove this newer reg on this rifle? I included a few pics..

De-gassing a gun with a bleed screw on the plenum side will do nothing to harm the regulator. The valve seat simply opens as it would when firing a shot, except this time it remains open until all the air has evacuated.

Edit: sorry I missread you post, I thought you ment by opening the reg, to bleed off, after a bottle has been removed. Totally agree, eith you:)

It will make the seat, rubb against the piston before opening.
Oh okay, you guys are referring to backing out the regulator adjuster to bleed the pressure. I do not consider that a bleed screw in the usual case where “bleed screw” describes a screw whose singular purpose is to bleed the system. So yeah in that case what you could do is get ready to back it out, then fire a shot (opens the reg seat) and promptly unthread it.

Or in the case of a gun like the Dreamline having a regulator gauge, just back off the gauge until it begins hissing and let it all drain out.

Or as you said, dry fire it.

There is a dedicated screw on the body of the plenum on my Dreamline that is for de-gassing.

Looks like a torx bit . Just looking for the correct one. I think it's T35 And that's one of the one's I can't locate...

I just did 2 on my Maverick. After you remove the center adjustment screw you will see it takes a metric Allen , or mine did anyway. Pretty sure its 2.5 for the small center screw and 5mm for the larger reg body.

Do you have any assembly grease or oil for pcps ?

I actually just found out it was 5mm.. I was using a ball end 5mm and it dodn't want to work. Ended up using a 5mm I have that's on a tool with others that isn't a ball type end and got it out. I do have synthetic grease however I use it on PB's .. Not sure if that will work. I used to use moly graphite on these years ago and still likely have some around here.
