Did a re-seal on a gun for a Guy. I didn't have the magazine so the barrel was a hair to deep when I replaced it.
He called me and I told him pull the barrel out a tiny bit or bring it back.
Well. He tried pulling the barrel back and said it's even worse now!
The pellets won't even come out the barrel now! He said.
So he brought it back.
Took the grub screws out and checked the barrel alignment.
Any guesses on what I found?

I am no expert or never considered myself an expert - maybe in complaining, but I'm curious about the type of rifle etc. So my guess, pellet(s) jammed some where in the barrel?

he twisted the barrel and the air passages do not line up ,,,

He put the barrel in BACKWARDS!

Yes!
He twisted the barrel and the Port was at the top with a grub screw in it when it should have been turned 180 degrees!

That put a burr that made getting the barrel out a rough project!
Now I have to deburr every thing.

Even when I first started in the airgun game I had enough common sense to put a mark (pencil) on the barrel & breech to make sure I'd reinstall the barrel correctly aligned! It's unbelievable what some guys do to their guns without THINKING! The one time I neglected to do that I knew immediately it was a transfer port alignment problem & fixed it in a minute. Guess there's nothing COMMON about common sense!

You don’t know until you know. We can’t call that common sense. Obviously the gun owner wasn’t confident enough to do the initial work so I can’t really blame him for not knowing how to fix the barrel spacing issue. Now he knows and probably won’t do that again. If he did again then I can see people start pointing their fingers.

I have a buddy that this similar thing happened to. Very competent person and a master builder. We worked through it over the phone and later he reported that he had done the exact same thing and that was why the rifle had lost all its power. And yes, there were multiple pellets stacked in the barrel and he learned how to clear that himself also. That will never happen again.

I've bought several Guns over the years that were listed as a problem gun.
Most of those have been mis-aligned barrels.

Yeah, I am gravel and road riding with some guys for years and they never replaced a chain on their own on their bikes, or replace a brake pad on their car... some of them don't even have any wrench or screwdriver in garage. Life is cheaper that way
