Beeman Another rare find

Beeman Classic Magnum in .20 cal. only made in 1992. Another Theoben product through and through but marked and marketed by Beeman. Rated @910fps I'll likely keep it a bit below that and test some pellets to see which is most accurate then decide what power level to shoot and keep it.

I would have thought it would shoot faster. I'm sure my Beeman R10 carbine in 20 cal shoots low 9's. Is that a gas ram? You mention different power levels is why I asked.

I would HIGHLY doubt an R10 .20 shoots in the 9's certainly not in factory form. That would be 20fpe with the light .20 pellets and over 24 with heavier ones. Yes, I mentioned it is a Theoben through and through so it's a rammer. As you know not every gun is meant to be powerhouse and or maxed out

Yes, your right. It is more like in the low 800's. I haven't shot in in 4 years. First shot over the chrony was 687 with after 20 or shots it is up to 800. I thought I was getting a bit more. I found this thread I wrote after the rebuild.

I bought this off of Beeman over 30 years ago. Decided to make a spring guide and top hat for it and do a rebuild. It has a Macarri Hornet spring and a Vortek piston seal. I used Krytox 205 throughout the gun. New pivot washers installed at barrel hinge. Shot cycle now is very smooth. Accuracy with 11.5 gr H&N FTT's is good. I can shoot golf balls at 40 yards. I shot the gun about 50 times after rebuild then ran a 10 shot string. Average 815 fps Standard Deviation 3ft/s, used 11.5 FTT's, 17.04 ft lbs.

Congratulations, great find! Looks to be in nice condition too.

I actually had a r10 in 20 cal it wasn't even close to 900 fps...the 20 cal pellets are longer than a 22 making them Slower out of the same guns.

Well, not too sure about that one either and have not ever heard that. It's a bit hard to find .22 & .20 pellets that are the same weight and that's what needs to be done to make such a comparison as well as bore fit. Too loose or too tight will make huge differences. I don't have a single gun that shoots across the board slower with .20 than they do with .22's. In fact, exactly opposite regardless of length of pellet it's weight that has the much greater effect.

P.S. Just measured, .20- .244'' .22- .256 both are H&N FTT pellets, Kodiak .20= .312 .22= .339 which are longer?
