Another rat at the bird feeder

Neighbor behind me has hunting dogs. They leave food out and hose the feces into the storm water drainage, so I have to keep on top of these.

I have a bird feeder set up and its a good kill zone for rats. Behind the KZ, on the other side of the fence, is a large oak tree.

I take the shot from the comfort of my office. I have a 1/2" spinner at ground level that I use daily to keep sure of zero.

PP700SA carbine 22 16gr Air Arms. They are hitting at the target around 12 FPE

About 30 min after dark a rat came along.

Put on the NVG's and turned on the IR light.



I hope that this guy comes along tonight and cleans up

I also get possums. I don’t shoot them. But sometimes it is frustrating when they eat the bait I set out for the rats haha

Thanks, it was the first time I posted after making a gif from the video. 


this possum likes flesh. It leaves the bird food alone. Usually I only see it on the lawn. On the night I captured it on the feeder, a squirrel met its maker earlier in the day. The squirrel left behind a little brain an blood and the possum cleaned that up.

Thanks guys. I'm working on getting some better night vision stuff that can also record.

This is my view and my setup. It's just a Yi home camera under a paint bucket liner. Its endured through torrential downpours. It runs on a couple cheap walmart battery packs.

At ground level you can see the spinner I use to check my zero

Great shot and setup! Trying to figure out something myself so I can get rid of the rats we have.

Have you identified the nesting area or forage route? I set my kill zone on my property closest to the outbuildings I believe they are living in on two neighboring property. It turns out they use my fence as a thoroughfare for foraging. 
Next is a safe kill zone. Could be as easy as a couple logs you can move. 
Final is bait. I tried dog food, rodent food, human foods like cheese and peanut butter. Turns out mine prefer fruit and nut bird food I already use. 
I have heard some rats remember IR light , but I keep one on in my backyard so it’s always there
