Tuning Another re-bluing project done on custom krugergun, and some new wood

This gun was a 1322. I'd hand fit a hp krugergun pcp kit to it, and messed up the breech finish with excess heat from cutting. I re-blued this breech a while back, and I didn't do such a great job. It looked ok at first, but was splotchy, and turned brown pretty quickly.

Come to think of it, I did use browning solution prior to bluing. Hmmm, lol. Live and learn.

Very thorough sanding with 600 grit, and then layed several layers of oxpho blue with a paint brush. Wiping and burnishing between coats with 000 steel wool. Then washed in water, and let it sit overnight coated in my compressor oil, haha. I recently did an old Brocock pistol, and it turned out super well, too. That gun used to rust if you looked at it funny. Not anymore!

New Tom West stock came in as well!

That is one nice looking pistol! Before I started salt bath bluing, I never got one that nice looking with any cold blues. I did very well with rust bluing but it's so time consuming. Oxpho is really good stuff now apparently. Curious what numbers and accuracy you're getting with that rig?

Thanks guys. #s for the gun are 820fps with AA 16 gr 22 cal pellets out of a 7.6" cut and re-choked LW barrel. 215cc air tube unregulated, and 165cc regulated tube. I havnt tested for shot count unregulated, but regulated is near 100 shots at 550fps. (tuned for short range, shot count, and very low report with integrated mod)

I found the key for cold bluing is #1, prep work. Get the surface finish as uniform as possible, acetone, then apply as fast and as evenly as possible (why I use a brush). Multiple coats between wiping off and burnishing helps. 👍
