Another scope recommendation with a twist

You should look into the Arken SH-4 gen II. I have the EP -4 and it is fantastic. Arken is blowing up the internet with how good the scopes are for the money. The 34mm tubes have more travel if you ever want to really stretch out the distance. The 6-24 is $450 and the 4-16 is $400. My Arken is built like a tank, the turrets are very crisp and the optics excellent.

I like the Athlon offerings. I use the Argos gen 1 & 2, FFP , wide range of reticles, close range parallax, decent glass, good tracking, range of magnifications, excellent customer service. My eyesight isn't what it use to be, run towards higher magnification. A used gen 1 can be picked up for a reasonable price. I'd go for the gen 2, better scope IMO.

All of your suggestions are pouring in. Please keep them combining. It's going to take awhile to research them all. I might even be persuaded away from the Discovery Optics. I might even be able to squeeze another $100 in the budget and making it $500 max. Several experienced air gunners have told me to buy the best I can afford now and don't go cheap and them upgrade several time to get it right.

Thank you to everybody that chimed in.

I watched hours of YouTube vids and read hours of different air gun forum post.

I decided on the Arken SH4 Gen 2 6-24x50
Once I give it my best shot, I will report back to the membership.

I think you made a good choice! Please DO come back and give us all a review once you've lived with it for a while! (smile)

I had a change of heart!

Truthfully, I got all caught up in the hype between the battle of the Vortex Venom vs Arken SHR. I almost pulled the trigger on the Vortex.
I just didn't feel 100% on either. I'm glad I did. It wasn't until I watched this vid and at about 3:35, did I know what will work best for me.

I didn't waste anymore time and placed an order for the Element Helix.

I like the idea of the company founder was highly involved in the airgun industry before he started the company. Hence the 10 yard parrallex to infinity. The Helix shares many of the same features of the Vertex and Arken. However, I think the Helix is a better scope. My scope will be delivered next week and I will give some feedback when I'm ready.
