Western Airguns Another unarguably success of the weird drill tip

Seriously...a " weird drill bit" ?

It's a die grinder tool, or better a "rotary file" !
They can be bought in MANY shapes, a couple of materials, and, a few flute designs, single cut, double cut and a different one for aluminum (or non-ferrous metals).

And yes, they are ground with very close tolerances (good ones are anyway !), so any given shape will return a steady hand, a good shape in the material being cut.

Wow, I didn't realize these tools were a secret. Been available for MANY years.

Mike
So they have, a aggressive bit, but not a glass smooth finish, lots of difference between a air tool verse a battery powered drill motor.

I use this bit for crowns, they work amazing well.

Just me but I wouldn't touch the end of my barrel with a rotory file or burr bit . That's quite a few that "needed" re-crowned .

Glad it worked out for you.
Fortunately I have not had any bad experience with this procedure. Just better accuracy ALWAYS and on every barrel, including Airgun Technology, Daystate Brocock and FX.

Always the result has been an improvement on accuracy.

Was it not shooting well before touching up the crown?
Really good, of course.... Airgun Technology are always accurate.

This rifle was one of the very first Vulcan 3 700 in the market. This barrel is not accurate with slugs.

So you may not compare mine with the new barrels on these rifles today on the market.

My almost new Vulcan 3 700 mm .25 Cal is a beast shooting slugs up to 330 yards. Taking doves at 170 yards is really easy with this rifle.

I have several that are at least 20 years old. Carbide. I still just use a brass screw and fine lapping compound for this type of work but it looks like his turned out good.

Just recrown also my Vulcan 3 500 mm .177 Cal, my Wolverine HP non HR .30 Cal and my Vulcan 3 700 mm .30 Cal.

The las one is the only one I have not shoot with yet.

Other two are shooting like champs.
Now after the recrown, Vulcan 3 500 mm .177 Cal is shooting sick accurate at 190 yards the NSA 12.5 grain, hollow point dish base slugs.
