Great questions but unfortunately I only 3 days ago figured out how to change the velocity of pellets. I have experimented with many different pellets but this was with the rifle shooting under powered. I pretty much wasted all my time experimenting with pellets because none of that matters now that I can change velocity with a twist of a external screw that I didn't know was even there. Now that I have it shooting just under 12fpe I again will sample pellets but I am currently leaning towards 10.34 gr pellets over the lighter pellets that everyone else seems to be shooting


It has a nikko sterling diamond 10-50x-60 that I really don't have anything to compare it to not even scopes on my PB guns. Its closer to my spotting scopes than it is to my rifle scopes lol

@AimenStraight i have an interesting Anschutz as well an 8002 - it in a precision stock. it was a <6 ftlb gun but has been bumped up to 16 ftlbs by AZ. It shoots superbly offhand. I've since added a trigger guard and a stop for shooting in the sticks and changed the scope to a Sightron S-Tac 4-20x50 MH4 reticle. This gun is so quiet i think it is broken every time i shoot it. At one time it belonged to the female 2012 Olympic gold medalist in 3 position; it still has teeth marks in the cheek rest from where she would bite it.

As for the barrel band, AZ put it there for a reason. I would contact him and have the serial number in hand, he keeps great records.

Hello and thank you for any potential help. I purchased this rifle yesterday from a gentleman who received the rifle upon death of a friend. When he received the rifle he sent it to Allen Z and had a 12ftp regulator installed.

When shooting the rifle today I found it to hold about a 5 inch group at 30 yards. When trying to investigate what the problem is I found that the barrle band was loose and missing a screw. On that band there are also two other screws that appear to center the barrle?

I have been searching the internet like crazy and cannot even find what model or year this rifle is to figure this out on my own. Thank you guys so very much!!!View attachment 400090View attachment 400091

You have a “ZM2002” which is a highly modified Anschutz CA 2002. Allen made all of them. The barrel shroud, barrel band, and air cylinder that you retightened are all Allen’s parts.

He built these for field target but at times I think they could be competitive at benchrest too. Mine is running the 13.43s at 805 fps.

The only downside to these is durability since Anschutz did not design them for high power. Allen will keep it going and replace every worn out part with a more durable replacement but there is only one of him and he’s been very busy.

Tyler knows what he is doing with these rifles. He modified mine and it shoots amazingly well. Keep with it and enjoy the nice rifle. That band you shouldn't need, do you? Or did Anschutz change the way the barrels are from the 2002 to the 8002?

I do like the silver quite a bit on the rifle. Really stands out!

When I bought mine over 20 years ago , AZ was into other projects and his estimate was beyond my budget. After posting about my desire for more power, ld took it on as a project. In typical ld fashion he tried several HW barrels to find the best, and of course remove the regulator. It’s still .177 shooting 19 Ft Lbs for 65 shots from 2400 Psi to 1700 Psi.
I added a Dave Mattics scope mount that makes the action a solid piece.
It will be one that that is sold at my estate sale
