Any buy it for life optics?

I have iron sights for life.

Scopes are just scopes. Some guys demand all sorts of fashion and many scopes offer that. I just need a reference point to aim from. As long as something about the scope dosent "bother me" I can hit the target just fine.

There used to be a few good scopes and a few that were sub par. Nowadays it seems a lot of them are pretty decent quality Quite a few will hold up to a spring rifle. The difference between a $100 scope and a $400 scope is blurry (ha ha).

I bought a $2500 scope for my favorite hunting rifle. It's a good scope. Great even. I still feel like a chump spending that kind of bread. A $500 Leupold would have suited me just as well and lasted just as long. Both will break when the pack mule decides to bolt. I'll cuss the same either way. I paid way too much for it plain and simple. I'm still not sure why.

I have never fallen so in love with a scope as to want a commitment. There are a lot of good scopes out there. Any of them will do the job. The one Im looking through is the one I'm in love with.

Gonna say no. Everyone here has hit on it.

  • Scope technology has come a long way in the last 25 years, so no reason it couldn’t go more.
  • Am I going to want the same specs scope for life? Same rifle or style shooting for life?
  • Eyes change. What looks good now, might not be right when you get older.
I have had scopes I loved, but none enough to say forever.

That was a lot of wisdom packed into a few lines. 👏🏼
Thanks.
I can confirm:

🔸️Yeah, shooting scenarios change — I never thought I'd be shooting rats....

🔸️Shooting styles change — after years of die-hard turret dialing, lately I have been shooting with holdovers....

🔸️The committment to the hobby changes. For me, what used to be an "very expensive scope" I now consider just "good".

🔸️ And the scope quality continues to improve — all the while the prices keep going down.

We live in the Golden Age of airgunning — also, what scopes are concerned! 😃
