Any Evanix shooters in the house?

Seems those that do have them like them but I don't hear much about them. They command a hefty price. Just curious if any of you have/had them and what is your take on them? Do they perform? Are they worth the $$$? Common problems? Accurate? Anything about them make them special compared to the other high dollar lines? I really know very little about them other than the name.

I have a 22 Airmax2 carbon fiber version and couple of the older large caliber ML semiautos and they seem accurate enough for hunting since they aren't target guns and trouble free however they are not my daily shooters so they don't have a lot of mileage on them. I think the Airmax2 is worth the price if you can find one and watch Hajimoto's video and it shoots cheap Wal-Mart Crosman Premier Hollowpoints CPHPs as good as mine under an inch at 50 yards.

The Rainstorm2 seems ok but haven't shot it much to give feedback on it since I think a Sumatra is better and like shooting them more.

I would say they are more reliable than HATSAN brand semiautos.

theres a dude on the other forum that uses evanix's regularly in the field. he is pretty helpful and friendly. from his profile he uses the following:

One Rainstorm II in .30 Cal (Extremly accurate and about 82 foot pounds. With a coyote in it´s resume.

Two Windy City in .25 Cal (one mine (a coyote and a javalina in it´s resume) and one of my youngest son) I change the barrel of mine for an FX smooth twist.

One Blizzard S10 .22 Cal and I put a Huma Regulator on it.

One Rainstorm 3D in .25 Cal and I put a Huma Regulator on it. Extremly accurate.This one is the ugliest of my rifles!

One Windy City in .357 Cal that has Two white Tailed deer, two javalinas and a gobbler in it´s resume.

I have a lot of more fancy rifles, but very few as reliable as the Evanix. They are hunters, Reliable hunters.

I haven't posted much for a while, but figured I would pipe up for this one. I have had one of the Rainstorm 3D bullpups in .177 for 5-7??? years and other than the fact I had to put a Lane regulator in it to get it throttled back enough to keep pellets sub-sonic, I haven't done a single thing to it. It's very accurate, never loses air and I even managed to get the generally disdained Piledriver pellets to shoot out of it (quite well). It has some unknown LDC on it that keeps it so quiet that all you hear is the action when you shoot it. It still is the quietest of all my air rifles, but I will admit that I haven't used it for quite some time. My only critical comment is that in the bullpup configuration, it requires a very high scope mount to get a comfortable cheek weld. Since I have a wee too many .177's and a Leishy 2 also coming in that caliber, I may well move it down the road, but certainly not for any lack of ability. I know many people love the power you can make in many of the models in larger calibers and the general simplicity of their designs. Which is why tuner/modder types enjoy them so much, I'm not the tuner type and I couldn't modify it externally to much, so it just winds up being the "I forgot I had that" gun. Just my two cents worth.

I still own my first 22 caliber PCP gun it is a Evanix AR6 which has like revolver style clips , and it can be shot single or double action , it has over 60fpe with slugs , and deadly but loud it came with no moderator , I have used an moderator and shot it bare , great gun ,



lol one cool thing about it is , if you cock hammer it shoots 40fpe but if you double action trigger it has over 60fpe , to double action trigger it is like 25 or so pound pull yes 25 to 30 lbs

The now obsolete Rainstorm line was a very good quality, dependable, accurate mid price range PCP that has not yet been replaced in the marketplace IMO. Nice wood and bluing fit and finish. I still have 2 -.177s (one tricked out won the Hunter Class FT nationals in 2015), 2- .22s, 1-.25, and 1-.357. The .357 has an arrow barrel that can be swapped on in minutes that shoots 275 gr arrows 8 shots at 450 fps. No, they are not for sale.

I have a rainstorm.30. Modded it and love it. Had a solid stem put in the poppet. Rock solid gun, very accurate. Shoots slugs or pellets. I want a .25... don’t need it.. just want it.

I bought the K500 Huntmaster from Mr. Lee ( owner of Evanix ) at the shot show about five years ago. The model was never imported by anyone into the US but was in South American countries. There are some UTube vidieos in Spanish or Portuguese on it. I really liked the revolver pistol like action for quick follow up shots. As mentioned above this action also does double action but the trigger pull is too heavy for accurate shots. The gun is set up for shooting slugs at 40 fpe and it liked what was available back then in around 27 grains. I thought the gun was heavy with the 24’’ barrel and found that it had a 1/2” barrel with an aluminum shroud about 3/4” and tight fitting to the barrel. I cut the shroud off 2 inch ahead of where it threaded into the action and behind the muzzle and bought a 1” carbon fiber tube and glued the front and rear parts of the metal shroud inside the carbon fiber. This improved the weight and balance of the gun a lot but it must have changed the harmonic balance as the gun has not shot as well since with any ammo. I moved on to a FX Crown and haven’t looked back. One of these days I will get back into it and try to find out what it will take to get it back shooting again then sell it. It’s a great gun for hunting . It didn’t have a great trigger With some creep to it but I modded that and made it adjustable and now it is crisp and predictable, good for hunting. I also have a pair of extra cylinders in .25 caliber . So a gunsmith could thread another barrel and it would be a two caliber gun . Mr Lee told me the hammer spring can be switched out to a lighter one to make it shoot pellets and gain shot count. The gun isn’t regulated .

Got one of the original Airmax semi autos. Accurate enough and has been trouble free. Did get the upgraded bits for it to shoot lighter pellets, but havent installed. In fact, I'd not shot the gun in some time and have considered putting it on the chopping block.

Got the Winchester .35 cal, which is basically an Evanix as well as the TC35, another rebranded Evanix. I did replace the barrel in the TC35 as accuracy wasnt great.

I'm not much of a tinkerer anymore. I pretty much like to open the box and shoot it. Sounds like these guns improve with a little work and make BIG POWER. These might be more than I'm looking to shoot in my backyard. Now if I needed to take a wild hog.....

The experience i had was that they're overall good guns, very powerful, accurate. The things i didn't like about these was the weak point at the wrist of for instance the ar6 and rainstorm; wood tends to crack there. Some of their tactical models also had some nasty sharp edges on them.

Ah, that’s good info!


I know other brands have had an issue with the grips cracking/splitting too (Streamline/Red Wolf). That is always a weak point with wood and thin grips or steep grip angles. I bought my Streamline at a discount because the grip was split and I just repaired a synthetic Streamline stock that was broken in two at the grip. I remove the action and drill down through the grip and epoxy a steel rod in to keep this from happening again after making the repair. I have been successful so far.
