Any experience with Leupold CDS?

Just wondering if anyone out there has experience with the Leupold Custom Dial System on an air rifle? I like Leupold scopes and the VX-2 3-9X33 ultralight CDS EFR has caught my eye. I suspect that the CDS system would only work for rimfire rifles because the more loopy trajectory of a pellet flying out of an air rifle would take more elevation adjustment than the turrets will allow in one turn. I hope someone has experience otherwise.

I asked their specialty shop specifically about making one with a reticle etched for an airgun, and was almost laughed at. While Leupold makes wonderful optics, I'd rather have a Hawke if I were spending as much as the VX-2 sells for.
