Any Hatsan Hercules Bully owners out there?

I tested one friends .45 Bully before one week. It is really a Hercules gun. So strong and so powerfull. It demands strength to pump it and to shot also. I love that.

  1. Did anyone pumped it at 250bar with hund pump?
  2. When I finished pumping at 210bar I stopped and closed the sidelever. The charching hole remained opened. Is that OK?
  3. Did you modified the power configuration from the factory settings?

I would not buy a .45 Bully again. It’s been a money pit. But it does shoot good. Now! After replacing the barrel (no rifling), scope mount changes, new orings everywhere. 4 of them were cut. Twice now, I have had to tighten the nut on the end of the valve pin. This is the rattling that you hear. This really helped keeping the volicities close. Even after locktightening it, it still vibrated loose. I squished the threads a little and solved that problem. Replacing all the 3mm soft screws in the cocking leaver along with a few other things. I have more types of pellets and slugs in different weights then I have for most of my guns. After several different moulds, I finealy came up to a couple that work pretty well. I don’t use the clip and shoot it single shot. But on a full fill, I get 7 shots touching or dang close at 50 yards. It’s my short range woodchuck rifle. My best load is 166gn fps at 750fps. That’s a long way from Hatsan’s specs.

Man, this is an old tread of mine that I started a long time ago. I laughed when I saw my targets from back then, especially the one where I said my groupings were getting better. Those suck compared to how mine is shooting now. The final fix, which I hope all you Bully owners have realized by now, is to get rid of that bottle cover, go and get the scope rail off of a Hatsan Bullmaster. It’s a true plug and play bolt on with no modifications like re drilling new holes to match up on the Bully. It costs $29 from Hatsan, it’s way better built because it’s a solid rail and not a hollow channel like the factory rail is, and I guarantee your groups will amaze you once you see the potential of this gun. 

Just two weeks ago I had a buddy over and for some friendly competition we shot at paint balls on top of golf tees, out to 50 yards. One would think no way a mid priced gun like a hatsan bully would be able to pick off paintballs at that distance, or maybe get lucky one out of five tries. My Bully could repetitively pop those paint balls if I did my part behind the trigger.

Not posting this as a bragging thing, but mainly as an effort to inspire others to get rid of that bottle cover that’s tied into the scope rail. YOU CAN DOOO EEET!

The Hatsan Bully air bottle housing is attached to the front of the scope rail. This allows the scope rail to be moved when you handle the gun. My .45 was shooting all over the paper until I stabilized the bottle housing. It now shoots 2" groups at 75yds. I also saw where one fellow free floated his barrel. The way this gun is built I think these are the only ways to get decent groups. To fix mine I ran a bead of clear silicone down the area where the bottle and housing meet. You can easily remove the silicone for any maintenance.

I don’t know if a Bully is even capable of lowering the power that low. Understand that the Bully is purpose designed as a Hunter, and proof of that is anytime Field Supply or Hatsan has any types of sales on these guns(new or refurb) 22 caliber and up are mostly sold out really fast. Next would come the 45 caliber as being sold out, and the 177 they always seem to stay in stock.

I'm having same issues...very frustrating but think I'm almost there w velocity and accuracy match? I'm finding that mine shoots best around 880 fps +/- but still cant keep it consistant.

Ha ha! Nice to see an old thread brought back up.

To date, here are the changes ive made to the bully-
1. Hatsan Bullmaster scope rail, bottle cover removed
2. Bottle to barrel shroud clamp.
3. Opened up transfer port opening in block and matched the opening in barrel TP
4. Modified the valve by plugging off all excess holes and just using one single but enlarged opening- kudos to RALLYSHARK for his guidance
5. Pellet probe machined down to more of a pin probe for better air flow
6. Peek valve seat/poppet
7. Polished hammer, hammer weight, etc
8. Stainless fasteners 100% converted over
9. Completely 100% resealed

It’s been over a year since I did all of this. Still holding the same 250 bar of air. If these impacts didn’t get all of my attention maybe I’d go test this thing, lol

I'm waiting on new rail now from Hatsan. Ordered the bullmaster as well. They sent me wrong one so impatiently waiting for correct one now..lolz . I had to shim scope mount between rail and standoff at back to be able to sight scope and have enough elevation but again...still not what I hoped for w consistent accuracy...is what it is I guess...just disappointing considering build cost and all the mods to get it grouping somewhat consistent. Once I shoot into the sweetspot after top off of tank - 7-10 shots in is starts hitting good though. I fill like I'm close. Do you think a second reg at tank would help?
