Any Members Use This Tank Carrier?

Saw this carrier on AirTanksForSale.com http://airtanksforsale.com/ and was wondering if anyone has used it. I don’t know the price and I’m not even sure if it’s sold individually. It appears to only come with some sort of cf tank package deal . I tried contacting them a couple of times, but got no response. From reading a recent post I’m under the impression that the owner is having medical issues. Thought I’d ask for some of your opinions and input on it . Anyone use it? If so, how do you like it? If not, what do you use or suggest that is comparable? Thanks folks.

You can buy the individual components that make up a tank carry and protection package for much less cost than that dealer sells them for. If you are handy at all you can make your own tank stand out of wood, dowel rod, and bungee cord in a couple of hours. A velcro scuba tank carry strap can be purchased from diver supply shops online for as little as $15. Search this forum and you'll see lots of threads with ideas on how to make your own tank carrying and protection package for a nominal cost. You will also have the satisfaction of incorporating your own ideas as well as saving some money doing it.

@Odoyle I looked into some of the straps with handles like the one in the Amazon link. What concerns about them are reviews I’ve read where people claimed that the straps slid closer together on the bottle when they grabbed the handle. What I like about the one in my initial post is that the handle appears rigid, the white plastic feet appear solid, the netting looks durable (although really it’s tough to tell from a pic), and most of all it has a thick looking (black plastic) base so that you can stand your tank up vertically. That’s why I’m curious about the perceptions of people who already own and have been using this particular carrier or a similar version for a while. For what my tank cost I’d like to protect it. I don’t wanna be like the guys who buy a $1200 iPhone, put a $30 case on it, drop it and are left with a broken case and phone, not with a $500-$600 tank.

This is made to store tanks from rolling and costs $60 per pair. It's not a cost effective alternative.

This roll control link is for the replacement strap only. It would be a great option if it included the base but it's merely a strap. A member of this forum makes 3D printed base pairs with bungee cord straps made to the exact tank diameter for $45 at his last offering. Here is a cradle I made for my 6.8 liter tank out of 3.5" high wood plank and dowel rods, hook eyes and bungee cord. It's easy to build and it costs less than $5 in materials.

@humdinger I’m primarily exploring carriers for their construction and durability at a decent price point. I prefer to purchase one with a good reputation that’s already put together. I intend to use this sort of carrier for transporting a 74 cu ft tank to my truck, from my truck to the range, or from my truck into the field, and back. I’d like something sturdy that doesn’t take up a lot of space, offers adequate stability and some sort protection to the tank while in transport, in use, and in storage. I like the options of being able to lay the tank horizontally and standing vertically in the carrier. I’d like to avoid banging it up and possibly shortening the 15 year lifespan of the tank.

Thanks for pointing out that the roll control brackets (feet) are not included with the strap for sale in the link. That’s a HUGE difference in the price point.

ALWAYS Be sure to factor in FREE SHIPPING for total cost. Don't get shocked after the fact for lower priced items once shipping is added that's why I hunt down places with free shipping if Its only a few bux more.

Yes! The bane of online shopping. 👺 I’ve been doing my best to keep shipping costs down. Another reason to search for a tank carrier that’s already assembled and has the features I’m looking for.

Ezana,

I have a "Tiger Shark" and "Great White" tank from Joe Brancato.

The feet, straps, netting, etc. are part of a tank protection package you can get when you buy a tank from him. I have no idea if any of these items are sold separately.

I drilled out the plastic feet on my "Tiger Shark" and replaced the bungee cords with cut-down tie down straps. The bungees are a PITA and are real knuckle busters if you have to remove them.

I just recently purchased the "Great White" and will probably modify those plastic feet also.

@saz Thanks. That’s what I wanted to know. I really like the look of those carriers!! I’m hoping they’re as durable as they look. How long have you owned your oldest tank and carrier? Any other issues besides the bungees being a PITA? Does the gauge on those tanks measure internal tank pressure as well or strictly the pressure of the output?

Well, I'm not one of Joe B's. sales people.........but I can say that the plastic carrier feet are pretty heavy duty looking plastic and I've never had any problems with the carriers, tanks or gauges.

I've had the "Tiger Shark" for almost 2 years and I just got the "Great White" a couple months ago.

The big gauge on the front shows how much pressure is going into your gun and the smaller gauge on the back shows how much air pressure is in the tank itself.

Some of these things like the carriers, double gauges, tank protection pkg., etc. are add on extra cost options, but I just went ahead and got all the bells & whistles. As they say, buy once, cry once! 😃
