FX Any plans for different sized DRS Plenums?

I’m bringing up another question about the plentum , that being the size of the o-ring that seals it to the block. Why is it sooo thin? I changed the plentum to the larger size and it wouldn’t seal. It was centered perfectly but had a slow leak. I took it off Inspecting it and all looked good. I added some silicone grease and reinstalled. Seems To be holding air this time but I would have thought a slightly fatter o-ring in a machined cavity would provide a better seal than the tiny one being used. Something for the after market guys to consider when designing a new moderator?
a little silicone grease :)works wonders

I tried the Tungsten hammer also and found it to be too heavy. I found some brass hammers on eBay and they work pretty well. I'm using the 13.5g hammer in mine.

I also found the Plenum to be too large. I placed a couple wood dowels in two of the holes inside the plenum and that reduced the volume enough to give good power without it using a lot of air.

Here is a picture of mine as I have it set up.

sorry to ask, but I don't suppose you recall the length you cut the 5/8" dowels down to do you please?

I just felt it was too much for the standard DRS. I'm hoping and holding out on someone to make a 20-30cc plenum that's the same size as the 12cc plenum. When I plugged it with the wooden dowels, it dropped the volume to about 30cc, which was plenty. To me it lost a lot of efficiency with that large plenum and I was refilling the air cylinder more frequently than I wanted to. Also, I was not a fan of that large block of aluminum hanging down below the stock, I think the standard plenum looks much better.

Though I don't own one I do like the looks of them without the fake mag/plenum under them. Looks like an extremely nice hunting platform.

Hi i am based in UK and we are now drawing up some Plenum`s for the DRS and looking to make a few for trials with different volumes. Have to see what the results will look like and how they perform. will share results once we have some made and tested.
DavidGowen22,
Anything to report on possible mid-sized plenums for the DRS? It has been a couple of months. I am willing to bet that just about anyone who bought a DRS Classic in the US would be interested in a 30 cc ish sized plenum.
Cheers,
Greg

The plenum on the DRS Tactical is only 36 cc .
I haven't seen any dealer have them for sale though.

Not directly. You have to file away that collar at the top of the plenum.

But still not available as 'spare part'

With thanks to West for his picture.

I’m betting that he relieved the stock to allow that raised area on the Tactical’s plenum to clear rather than take material off of the plenum itself. I don’t have a DRS so I’m on the outside looking in here, but that seems the easier way to do it. Even though my mill would make short work of that lip on the plenum, I’d be tempted make wood dust versus aluminum chips and inlet the plenum well some with a drum sander on a rotary tool instead.
