Anybody using an Element Helix for Hunter Division Field Target?

I have an ffp helix and like it but at the first match as i got near the end and a lot of paint was shot off targets( it was a dark cloudy day) i was loosing the crosshair in the target. I think if it had an illuminated reticle it would be great for me. Must add I don’t see as well as i used to. So i bought an athlon Argos gen 2 havent shot it yet at a match but think the illuminated reticle will help a lot but i liked the way the element turret markings went along with the reticle markings better than athlon. Though this is not important to hunter. Air gun gear show on YouTube did a good review of ffp and sfp helix

From UTG to Sightron after 40yds it's not going to range any better. So if a Helix is what you want to use go for it.

If you're chasing scopes to see if one can range well past 45 using parallax it's a fools errand. Pic one and get used to using it, a lot. One thing you'll notice in FT is that most of the shooters who are constantly changing equipment never achieve consistency. It's due to never allowing themselves the time(10+ matches) with the same equipment. Familiarity in ones gear breeds confidence. Confidence leads to less thinking and mistakes leading up to and during the shot. I could go on but this isn't the thread for it.

Anyways, if you simply can't get along with the scope you have now by all means try others. Though instead of buying and selling scopes constantly try to look through the scopes during sight in before a FT match. It's easier on the wallet and the person who owns it will give the best info too.

Thanks Solo1, didn’t realize the Helix was non-illuminated but that is probably not a make or break issue to me here in Az. What did you use for a focus wheel?

John the Beard: I don’t change things unless I see a benefit, so while your spitballing is certainly reasonable general advice, it does not apply to me. My UTG scope has developed a mechanical issue and yes I try every scope I can at FT meets and get owner opinions.
