Anyone convert FX Impact MK2 .22 calibre to .25 calibre?

Went out to shoot for a couple of hours after work today. I brought my FX Crown, M60B and Impact MK2 with me. I started out with the Crown shooting 18gr pellets, but it was extremely windy and I wasn't able to hit anything beyond 55 yards. I did tag a few starlings and a dove. Nice to shoot my Crown again after many months. It was still super accurate and pleasant to shoot.

However, the wind was too much for this setup so I switched to my M60B shooting the NSA 17.5 gr slugs. It did better at longer ranges but not perfect as I repeatedly missed the 95+ yards shots. Again the wind was too much for these light grain slugs.

I brought out my FX Impact MK2 shooting the H&N 25gr Gen2 slugs that I had spent countless hours of tuning it to shoot decent groups. Running the slugs at 984fps seem to get the best result. First shot I took at a starling at 95 yards, holding 1/2 a mil-dot and hit it squared in the chest. A loud pop could be heard. That brought smile to my face. It didn't need that much hold for the windage as compared to a full mil-dot with the M60B.

So I took another shot at a dove at 88 yards soon after. The slug found its target and pinned the dove on the roof.

I questioned myself. "Why would I want to mess with this setup and change the calibre to .25?" So, my decision to buy a.25 calibre barrel, probe and magazine was abandoned. I guess I better save up some money and look for a new gun in the near future. I will continue to use my Impact for my next coyote hunt...

While most FX guys on the forum love to support and encourage what FX markets, never leave your gun alone/grass is always greener, I will continue to encourage guys to leave a good slug gun alone. I have a long standing theory. I see lots of guys bragging about their slug guns. Then I see them trying different components or making changes. That’s when I question just how good was their gun. Obviously not good enough. Two of my three M3’s have remained untouched after I finished them. That’s more than a year of no new trinket testing. They are solid slug slinging death machines. My third M3 is jumping between two barrel lengths I made for it. Once I decide which one, that gun will be left alone also. Then just enjoy them like the tools they are.
