Anyone Eating Thanksgiving Turkey They Got From Airgun Hunting?

I'll be seriously impressed. Turkeys are generally darned wary birds and a turkey noggin is mighty small. The big thing with the PB shotguns / turkey now is Tungsten shot. They tend to run about ten bucks per round in .410 and can make a .410 work out to about 90 yards. Taking a turkey with most airguns would take mad stalking skills and great accuracy for success.

The closest I've come was several decades ago when we lived in Omaha Nebraska. I didn't hunt with airguns then, only powder burners. We did not buy a turkey because we planned to drive to Kansas City to have Thanksgiving with family. But then a big ice storm hit and the roads were impassable. My late wife dug a couple pheasants out of the freezer and draped some bacon over them because they were wild birds and very lean. We had things for sides and had a really nice Thanksgiving. Pheasants are not turkey and a shotgun is not an air rifle but this is my closest experience.

We cannot hunt turkey in Arizona with airguns, wished we could - shotguns and bows are the only legal weapons here. Wild turkeys, even though they look like pretty big birds in the forest , especially a prancing, pumped up Tom, are much smaller than the fatso domestic birds we all get at Costco. I think dressed out most of ours have been in the 8-10 lb range, plus their leg and thigh meat is extremely tough and needs some work to tenderize. I do like eating them though, I think they are more flavorful than their domestic cousins.
