Anyone feel the same?

The key to any good forum is active and swift moderation of comments followed up with some form of penalty.
On this forum moderation is somewhere between passive and nonexistent.
Which is fine. I am the keeper of my own domain and sanity. I don’t need anyone to filter things for me.

@Gerry52 Keeping things to oneself requires discipline. Some of it is and should be taught/learned at home. and for others from commitments to one or more institutions where discipline is at the core. Structured institutions with disculpen at their cores allow large groups of men and women to function efficiently in concert towards common goals. With that said, I’ve learned that people develop discipline similarly to the rates that we mature. We don’t all come to the same place at the same time. Some just won’t get there. (in terms of maturity or ability to think critically). As for critical thinking, that is a skill set that is learned (and in my encounters it appears to be more often taught), as is logic. It’s a bit unfair to expect people to do these things if they haven’t been introduced to them. We also fiction at different levels according to our capabilities, willingness, and mental capacities.

While I agree with the sentiment of keeping one’s political views to one’s self (per the rules of this site), I’ve noticed that some members openly flout the rules or simply may not be able to help themselves. I don’t really care much about avatars so long as they aren’t overtly offensive or targeting specific groups or individuals. Those types simply are in bad taste IMO. Above all I’ve learned that the ignore button works wonders on AGN in terms of reducing the foolishness that I see in forums.

You guys who think I'm trying to limit your choices of AVATAR are WAAAAAY missing the point here! WHAT ARE or ARE NOT the rules that are supposed to be followed is the whole point. Why bother even posting rules if moderators selectively choose to ignore them? It's NOT the avatar, it's the CLEAR message that goes against the forum RULES that goes with the avatar. If a moderator would please, finally step in & give a clear, concise explanation this would easily be resolved. Seems you guys are now looking to be offended. If you don't like/agree with the sentiment you're free to BLOCK me. Why bother taking this conversation in a different direction than that which I clearly stated was about the context of the RULES of the FORUM? It is NOT about trampling anyone's RIGHTS. The clearly stated rules say NO POLITICS. I'm just looking to get away from that kind of stuff. Thought maybe, for a while, I'd found that here. Moderators, PLEASE have the courage to step in at any time!

Well, you brought it up. What are examples of avatars that offend you or break the rules? I scrolled down "new posts" and saw an American flag. I know that symbol upsets some people and can be considered political. But should it, and whose issue is that if it does?

I haven't seen any DNC donkeys, RNC elephants, Swastikas, Raised Commie Fists or anything that could be interpreted as partisan/political since joining this forum.

I've also found the political banter to be light, infrequent, and adequately moderated.

Could it be, unlike political trolls, the mods/owners have a life beyond the scope of a single website?

We post way faster than they can keep up! :) Running one board can be a full-time job in itself.

I figure best to report things you don't like, and when those in power get home from work or whatever, I'm sure they're on it asap.

Some grey area is allowed I see, but things don't tend to go far before it's shut down.

Unlike another aigun site I used to visit, this one is pretty tame when it comes to political/religious vomit.

But in spirit, yeah, let's keep that sh*t on FB or Twitter where the morons reside. We can do better here.

silvershooter589, you may THINK I've "outed" myself but it's just your own spin. Personally I consider myself apolitical at this "nearer the END" point in my life. I have no political leanings anymore. Imho the "donkeys" AND the "elephants" are all self serving tyrants with no one's better interests in heart & mind than their own. NOW I've outed myself! What are the F--king RULES & are they to be enforced?

I'm just saying calling for increased censorship, online and otherwise, happens to be part of a certain political platform.

Yeah, I'm giving you sh*t because you created a controversial thread/topic while complaining about that very thing. And now you're kind of breaking your own rules anyway.

Like I said, easier to worry about one's self and not get upset about things beyond your control. Easier said than done. But you are the one acting like the "tyrants" you say you dislike.

In any case I wish you peace.

FWIW - moderators usually won't take action without a Report being made. We the Airgun Nation members are self monitoring adults (mostly). The Mods will look at it if you report it. They may even take action.

Too much moderation 😭
Too little moderation 😭
That guy did not get moderated 😭

Let's talk about AIR POWERED SHOOTING SPORTS!!! 🎯

I'll explain, once again, hopefully it'll register this time. It's about the political message, inference, attitude, vein of thought (etc, etc, etc) on a site that professed to have rules about no politics. That's all, PERIOD. I'm GRATEFUL that for these last couple, difficult years for MOSTLY all of us I had a place to go & forget how f-ed up things are & relish the commonalities between us here. My bad for having EXPECTATIONS. That's a recipe for disappointment. I guess it also makes me a tyrant to some. So be it. I'm going home to beat my wife & kick the dog :ROFLMAO: , you guys have a great day & THANKS for responding!

Here you go...
