Western Airguns Anyone had any luck quieting a Sidewinder?

Donny's are pretty but they are pieces of sht when it comes to actually being moderators. Literally any other mod would do better, Mod40, Impulses etc.
Yeah, when I open one up I'm struck by the lack of baffles or anything that might impede the flow of air significantly. I just don't want to dump $200 into another moderator that doesn't quite do the job.

There is absolutely no way to quiet a powerful mid to big bore with 7" of nothing no matter who make it.. those moderator are made mostly for hearing protection, than to make the gun mouse fart quiet.. all moderator at 7" x 1.5 will absolutely work almost same maybe change the pitch of the noise. But to you neighbors will be exactly the same .. is not that the moderators are wrong your expectations are wrong .. to quiet a hp like the sidewinder your will need a 2" thick shroud with a air striper sending air to the back . + atleast 3 chambers with deep cone baffles on the front.. total custom work . Then it would be mouse fart quiet.. only well designed shrouds make guns quiet, and if one could still ad a moderator to the shroud even better .. how taipans are so quiet.. they have what I just described but scaled down to the caliber used , there's is no factory gun quieter that the taipan and I'm talking about the long version shooting 18gr at 950fps and the .25 at 65fp with a koy I could only hear the hammer..

I don't think you'll ever be able to get it really quiet, as the Sidewinder action itself is so loud. I don't know if you have tried dry firing it with the muzzle buried into a pile of towels or pillows, but that will show that even without any major contribution from the muzzle blast you are still left with a lot of noise . . . .

Mine is only a .22, but here is my journey trying to quiet it down. I'd like it quieter, but at least it is tolerable now. I will say that the factory "moderator" was pretty much a joke. All of my LDCs did better than that one, once I got the 1/2-20 adaptor installed: https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/trying-to-decide-on-a-moderator-for-a-22-sidewinder.1298720/

One thing I noticed about it when trying to figure out how to quiet it down is that there is no venting of any kind on its shroud so I drilled a series of small holes in the shroud where they are hidden by the structure of the receiver and that made a very noticeable difference. The report is still loud, but it’s much improved. It does produce a puff of wind now coming from the area above the bottle, but I don’t find that to be a problem. I figure the shroud is basically just a length of carbon fiber tubing, so it can always be cheaply replaced in the future.

I’m planning to order a Huma Mod50. That should have more than twice the volume of the 0 dB or DonnyFL mods that I have used up til now.
