Anyone had luck with budget night vision rigs?

I have a berm at exactly 100 yards from my house with woodland beyond that point. So realistically my shots would be within that range. 30 cal is dialed in a 90 pounds of energy so will be pretty effective within that distance.

I'm considering some type of night setup to play with but don't know if I'll enjoy being out there at night for long periods so don't want to spend a lot finding that out.

Anyone had experience with this sort of thing? I've seen the nv100 which clips to a scope that may do the trick.

Thoughts?

I dont know anything about NV Scopes. (watch a lot of utube, lol). But the Wraith Mini 4K by Sightmark & the AGM Neith look decent & you can use them in daylight as well & record video. Both are digital not thermal. I have a Pulsar Axion 2 thermal monocular just for viewing stuff at night here on my land. It is pretty awesome. I have been giving some though to getting the Wraith just for videoing in daylight.

Nom noms.....I have the sightmark wraith mini 2-16 x 32......Its $700........audio & video...true 4k....day night modes....super easy to dwn load to computer...i got the 2-16 for close in...rats in a lawn chair close...30 yds tops...that not its limit by any means...clear as a bell @ 100.....day or night.....i've gt some vids of it on utube if ud like to see the playback quality...FXMaverick 30.....I bought the small battry pack that clips on a pic rail.....it goes for days......i love mine,,NO complaints... They just came out with a thermal version......im pullin the trigger on that today....

I have a Wraith 4k on one gun but I truly prefer the clip on Pards that I have. You just have to have a scope that’s glass likes them. You also have to have a way to increase your LOP when you clip it on so things are comfy. I recently purchased a Oneleaf Pard copy for my buddy. It was cheaper than a Pard but very similar. I was impressed with it when I got his gun set up with it. The torch is plenty bright to shoot at 100 yards with. The nice thing about a clip on is all your clicking for distance stays the same. You want to shoot at 100, click your scope like you always do.

+ 1 on what @Vetmx said! At 100 yards it’s much better to use a clip on NV add on. Keep in mind you will likely need add a higher power focusable, aim-able IR light to see clearly to 100 yards. Built in ones usually tap out at 30-40 yards max, plenty of options on amazon.

The only disadvantage is closer shots with higher power scope like 6-24, clipons work best for close range with 1-3x scope magnification max because of the built in magnification. The only reason I use my ATN is because of the closer shots around 15-20 yards, for longer distances the clipons win hands down at MUCH lower cost.

imo going too 'budget' is a waste of time, been there... you can get into something decent for 700+ though depending on the features you want .. if you have a fixed position using a tripod etc, anything can be used, if you want to be mobile a pard is probably the best option out there, and those have various models including rangefinder etc builtin .. something like an atn 4k 5-20 with the large atn torch would be perfect off a tripod/fixed position and have alot more features than the pard, better eye relief etc, its just a huge setup, not very practical to move around with ..

If anyone thinks a clip on is not effective out to and beyond 100 yards, send me your phone number. I got plenty of footage of me dropping critters with my Pards with no help of extra illumination. Here’s a skunk getting rolled at 90 yards with my Pard. Torch is on #1 and it goes up to #3. Those spinners are at 100. Like I said before, some scopes like clip ons, some don’t.

I have 2 ATN's and 3 Pard's, ATN's are good but heavy, Pard's are light but not as many features as ATN, mostly I use the Pard NV007V clip on, it's cheap and has great video and depending on the scope you put it on the zoom works great, it has digital zoom besides the scope zoom, use an additional IR illuminator and you can see out past 200 yards, I bought it on Amazon, works day time too

Thanks for all this info guys. Been going through your recommendations and hope to pull that trigger soon. The pard NV007V is looking favorable with an adapter so I can easily remove it switch guns.
The 007 and its clones are best bang and best NV device when it comes down to long range. You want optical zoom! 4k sounds fancy but no where near enough if you want to zoom in at long distances. I have/have multiple ATN, Pard and others and the clip on is my preference regardless of price, you can’t beat image quality of good optics.

I am constantly playing with the parallax knob when shooting at various distances at night. And 30 yards at night is no longer 30 yards on the parallax wheel. I don’t think I ever tried a clip on with a fixed parallax scope. If you are real serious about getting one, I will try one on my fixed parallax squirrel scope. It’s just sitting there waiting for squirrel season.
