i am hoping someone has experience or own this type of compressor. This was given to me as the unit had stopped working after 5 usage. The motor wouldn’t start up and the owner had ordered from Amazon and if was one those Chinese knockoff. Long story short he couldn’t get help from the vendor and now the unit is out of service. I am trying to find a way to get it working again. I just don’t know who to reach out to for the repair.

thanks for the reply. when I power it on, the unit will light up but no motor working and the breaker would go off. So seems to me the pistons or something is jammed?

To check whether the mechanics are jammed, you can get a feel by trying to turn the cooling fan at the back of the motor by hands. You will have to remove the fan cover first. If it feels right ( make your own judgement ), may be a short circuit has developed inside the motor, I have come across one such report. The owner found it by visual inspection. It is also possible for the circuit breaker to be defective. If you know the spec of the breaker, you may try to replace it.

you have one thing work against you, you might not have any source for parts

you could make gaskets if needed but crank, rods, pistons or anything else could be very hard to find

so I would post everything you can find on the unit and we could look for any help

but I think if someone gave me that unit I would take it apart to see where it is damaged, you can't hurt it, it is dead

there is a fine line between repairable and junk sometimes and maybe this is one of those times

it looks like it has that square crank breather that everyone seem to have break off maybe a hint to find parts

I dont have that same model. But I do have the hatsan lighting which is base on that model. On mi e there is a breaker. If it goes off. Press it to reset it. Also make sure you are not using any extension cords. And make sure your outlet it rated like 15amp I believe. It used a lot of power. So if your outlet cant support it. It will try to start than automatically shut off or breaker kicks in. Make sure no other device is plug into the same outlet. Most of the time ppl are plugging in a outlet that doesnt handle that amount of amps. If it still doesnt start. Then you need to turn the fan blades. Open the base case and turn the fan by hand. Sometime it goes stuck and need a little help. If all else fail. It can be due to bad or fried wirings, bad or dead motor, bad breaker. Anything is possible.

I had airmax a few years ago and looked Identical , mine had tons of problems ,

1 electrical switch melted 4 times

2.power cable melted at connector was very cheap plug ,

3. piston rings 6 times failed ,

4, oil leaks from gaslkets ,

grab big screw driver and put in electric motor fan and see if it turns first

if supplly volatge is good see what is binding electric motor or compressor motor

I gave mine away as parts hard to find and are very cheaply made , I found switches , and rings from alibaba but rings were poor ly made ,

OK I have had mine apart several times and was able to fix it each time but not without some serious curses.

1. I had the same issue and it required opening up the electrical box and repairing several connectors that worked loose. It was doing the same thing. Trying to start then nothing or tripping the breaker.

2. Replacing the HP piston rings is simple and easy to get parts.

3. Remove and clean both the check valves. The one on top the HP cylinder is usually ok but needs to be checked . The final valve on the top of the out flow /pressure release block needs cleaning often.

5. Keep it cool.

4. Be patient and follow the electrical instructions the previous members have given you and you will get it working. Once you figure it out you can keep it running for long time.

PM me if you want pictures. Nick

Hi all, thank you for chiming in.

yes there is oil in the unit. I will take a closer look later on today and see if the fan blade is jammed or not and check if any of the fuses are loose, reset the breaker. other than that, I am afraid my mechanical/electrical knowledge is like having a really bad gun and can't hit the side of the barn no matter what I tried, lol.

Good point on the extension cord. I was using just that, lol.

But I am not giving up just yet. I will follow your advice, especially yours, Nick, and poke around and see what I can find. I will have to source out shops that can fix air compressor and see if the cost to repair is a minimum.

thank you again!
