Anyone heard of Pneuwa Cattleman Airguns?

Errors even this is pretty what it looks like taken apart

Not to complex, however things were very tight.

I saw this in an earlier post. My problem is, I am not experienced, I don't have any machining tools at my disposal. I can likely get the gun apart to that state, but from what I see the hammer rod, top left corner I believe, is seated in a cylindrical part, is it easy to remove from the cylinder? Do I need a hydraulic press to put a new one in? But my first issue is I don't even know the length and diameter of the rod, is it to much to ask for a link to McMastercar Drill Rod part with the diameter and length? There's so much to choose from on that site, 0-1 does he mean 01 Tool Steel? Damn it says it's annealed and not hardened, do I need to harden it myself? I do I own a foundry so this is possible for me... so many questions... be nice if someone posted a quick guide, I don't have a lot of time in my day to tinker.

No sir, the o-1 in the annealed state should be just fine, as it is harder than the stainless rod, and will not gall with the SS hammer riding on it. . the rod is not pressed into the valve and slides right out. I will have to look at my notes, but seems it was 3/16 and turned down where it goes into the valve body and again where it is threaded where it is adjustable from the rear of the gun. the poppet pin was indeed 3/16 and taking far too much of the room for air in the valve body space. Lessening the dia. will instantly give higher performance . they were going for strength, however again. 0-1 or high carbon SS will be fine at a smaller dia. My suggestion was if wanting to keep the full dia, still switch to a different steel, and turn down the section that is actually feeding the port. the large dia. can be kept as the off center strike of the hammer will be harder on a typical tappet rod than usual. This off side system is used to be able to use a much larger dia. Pressure tube without making the breech huge!

OK, my bad, I did not measure it. I will tomorrow. Heading to bed shortly long night and day. LOL

I am out of the correct size of o-1 but may make one from fully hardened brass rod for testing. It should cure the galling for testing.

Marine, Wait a bit Sir! 😉 And in no way (as Miss Victoria stated) am a a Genius. I've just been at this for a long time.

My wife had me tested, as in school I was terrible. Dyslexic, OCD, and always interested in what was outside or in the woods. Seems I was just barely border line in the IQ test. They obviously made a HUGE mistake. 😂

I've decided to wait on sending mine back.

Could you post some pictures of yours? I'd be interested in seeing it!

Heres a quick vid showing off my setup

Nice vie Sir! May I make a suggestion in order to show the full AG, turn you phone 90 deg. Think of it this way, would you turn your beg screen tv end on end ? In using your phone in this manner is cutting our far too much of your content.😉 Use that Wide Screen=Woo-Hoo!!!😁

Looking at this pic, when available, I would request the longer bb. I will greatly increase fps and conserve air. It will not make the gun longer as the adapter in the shroud still makes it full length if I am seeing it correctly.

@ Knifemaker

Thanks for the response. I noticed you mentioned turning it down... I take it you mean in a metal lathe, well that's a piece of equipment that I do not own and it'll cost me more than the Cattlemen did. I suppose I could find a machine shop to try to do the work, or send it off to a competent smith... Diy just ain't gonna happen for me until I upgrade my tool shed. Maybe I'll wait to see if Cattlemen will make good on sending me one when they have them implemented in the new line. Thanks for your effort. I'll work on my camera skills I suppose, I usually don't share, but so many people seemed interested in this gun. I'm still interested in it, hoping I'll be using it to pop ground squirrels and other critters soon...

Errorseven, just send it back and either wait for the updated guns to be in production and approved by new owners or just get a more reputable gun. You shouldn’t have to be a machinist to make your brand new gun with a warranty work as it should. Are you going to lay under your brand new car or truck and put an updated transmission in it? No. You’re going to drive it to the dealer and have it fixed under warranty. The fact that you can’t take these puppy mill airguns from various manufacturers right to a dealer for service is what they are banking on when it comes to their warranty claims. They know a very small percentage of PCP owners are willing to box up their gun and sent it back. For some reason, once a guy has his new gun in his hand, he can’t let go of it until he is bored with it. We make up excuses as to why we would rather fix it than send it back. They win and the guys who aren’t machinists lose. I used the term puppy mill when referring to certain manufacturers guns because I have never had to use my machinist skills to get a gun to function out of the box when I bought from a reputable breeder.

Yes, the issues need to be addressed, I see no reason to make up a slanderous story as to why there are issues. Many have had issues with fx and daystate as well, and most other brands. Pessimism doesn't help any one, nor do made up scenarios besmirching a company with no actual knowledge as to what the truth is , simply isn't right.

This not like you Frank.

Knife, nothing I said was directed at you. You did your part and shook down the rifle. What I was eluding to with these type of companies is think of the aggravation they would have saved by sending a prototype to a person like you before they put it into production. They don’t but they could have brought a real player to the table and made a good first impression. The market of guys liking fixer uppers is not helping guys like errorseven who just want to buy a gun and enjoy it without dropping $1,200. I just feel it’s irresponsible of a company to sell untested products. Why have a warehouse full of bad guns. Speculating, and besmirching doesn’t happen when guys like Jonathan from FX or Ed from Edgun come on the forum and lay down the facts. They don’t fear a forum because they know their product and can back their stuff up. Crosman apparently had somebody hold Kral to a certain set of standards and those guns seem to be working well so it’s not impossible. Having recently brought several people into PCP’s and them not having giant budgets for pellet guns has created a bit of a sore spot so maybe I am acting a little out of character. For the first time I have felt the burn of trying to find good guns under $600.

That is a good point Frank. I understand that they wished they had met me earlier. I would have been happy for myself ort any one of other experienced people had gotten involved, but we didn't know about the company early enough. All that can be done now is help address the issues as they are very willing to improve. Happy about it in fact.

Good point about how FX and Edgun handle their problems.

What’s wrong about Cattleman is how they use untrustworthy YouTube reviewers to sell their guns. As they have done on their most recent listings on fleabay. I would give them respect if instead of using these non credible sources they told potential customers to check out Knifemaker on AGN for an honest look at their gun. Here’s a screenshot of their most recent eBay listing promoting the legendary M & B airguns with his offhand, hole in hole 100 yard group or Macabe speeds who cares more about how fast he can send pellets rather than how accurate:

Continuing to sell guns when they know they have problems and not telling people about these problems just ain’t right

I too would like to see shipment stopped until issues are resolved. It is my understanding that they were to rec. a new shipment in two weeks. This was told me last week. So 1 to 1 1/2 weeks. Miss Victoria is having the changes made immediately. I am holding off until a bbl arrives to go further into it, so some modifications will no doubt be ongoing. As it is with any company.

Two weeks ago, when NBB started posting about youtube I contacted her and let her know she needed to set those guys straight and then come here and listen to avid air gunners. She did come here, register and even made 6 posts (well a couple were the same) and now she hasn't been back since, but she has been posting replies on those channels.

Seems like the old saying about leading a horse to water.....
