Anyone Know how this Antique Target Works?

Hey guys. This target may be missing pieces. Also, some of these targets wind up a spring or may even have a spring holding down something so that you only get one shot, something springs up, then you have to walk over and reset it.

Anyone know how this one works?

Guesses are OK.

There should be a torsion spring on the stud that the chick is on to make it pop up.Then the chic is pushed and rotated behind the clamp spring. Pressure and friction holds the chick down until pellet goes through the hole in center of target hitting the chick and vibrates , reducing friction / pressure on chick and it pops up. Very cool find. I have never seen one.

Right idea, but the chick should not rotate far enough to be seen thru the hole(or struck by the projectile) . The projectile goes thru that hole and strikes the spring steel and that releases the chick.
