HW/Weihrauch Anyone tried reshaping their HW stocks?

Scott, your skill with Beech wood is very good. I have been using Napiers London Oil with success but maybe I'll give Maccari's a try.
Thank you wijib. The RLO is so easy to work with. And Jim has excellent instructions how to use it right there on his website. His maroon synthetic finishing pads make it extra easy imo.
I'm currently half way through refinishing my new Huben K1, with RLO.
I think you'll like it.
Have fun.

I wonder if they would make the forearm checkering longer if asked to do so? Have you talked to them yet?
I didn't think to ask about it, but now that you point it out it probably would look better with a longer checkering section. I've ordered it now though. With the select walnut, rosewood grip cap and shipping it came to $441.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I’m glad I asked here before I just started sanding. At this point I’m planning on just ordering a replacement stock from custom stocks in the UK.
I ordered my UK stock with no checkering or that ridiculous cheap (to me anyway) looking stippling , just plane wood , love the look and feel shooting my HW97

I thought about going that route as well. I don’t really think that checkering has any practical purpose on a rifle and it definitely makes it harder to refinish and clean and hides the grain of the wood. Ultimately though I just think that it looks good and I really like to shoot and handle beautiful guns.

It would look better if they made it longer to fill the stock size.
