AP16 Power Adjustment?

I just received a new AP16 in .177. Out of the box it was shooting 8.4gr AA in the 650s and I want it down to 500fps. I turned the power adjustment screw out but it was hard to turn and I didn't get a complete turn out of it. It only dropped the velocity by 30fps. 

The back of the screw looks flush with the housing. Is the screw suppose to be able to turn all the way out? Is there a hidden set screw keeping pressure against the adjustment screw?

Sucks I am going to have to clip a coil on my new airgun :-(

Match it with a slightly weaker one and an equal one from ACE Hardware start with same length and chrony and cut a little at a time. They are cheap. I would never chop a factory spring in case I wanted to go back to regular factory spec and keep resale value in case the buyer expects full power.

Questionable OEM parts availability too!

You can try to turn the reg down a little bit. If you unscrew the air cylinder you'll see a small hex screw in the center on the air inlent on the pistol. I believe CW will decrease the pressure. This should get you closer to where you need to be, but the factory spring are a little bit too strong IMO.
