RTI Appreciation for an older design, Gen 1 Prophet Performance 22 LR

Mine -
A little adjusting, a grip change with both. Pretty tame overall change wise.
The Compact's shroud is full of Daystate baffles, that work well.

The Prophet P1 is the only rifle that I have two of.

I have the .177, .22LR, .25LR and .30 barrels.

I actually have two of the .25LR barrel. It’s harder to find than the .22LR and its amazing!

The LR barrels are special. They seem to provide excellent accuracy across a wide range of velocities.

The RTI Prophet Performance v1 is already a classic rifle. It has about 8 o-rings. Great barrels and simple, quick caliber swaps.

I ain’t sellin’ mine, lol.

Been playing with the 20.83g MRD lights lately and getting great results .

I’m chilling at my hunting camp now for about a month. That means no access to all my orings and repair tools. I always bring a RTI. My non balance valve RTI’s never let me down out here and so far this one hasn’t. But it does concern me more than my regular valve guns. I have two other guns with me but big boomer is always on standby with NV for coyotes. Can’t brag about the RPB barrel because RTI doesn’t make one in .30 so this gun has a FX barrel in there. I know, blasphemy.

How does your .30 barrel shoot? I had one many years ago and was not impressed with it so I sold it. The new owner wasn't either and then he said he cut the choke off and it started shooting much better. In all fairness I did not experiment with it very much and should have spent more time with it.

I was not aware the .25 was an LR barrel. That is interesting information. I've never been a fan of .25s for target shooting but they certainly have a place as a hunting caliber.

Thanks for bringing up the 20 grainers too. That is one pellet that I have not yet tried in any of my rifles. Is the BC discernably better than the 18s?

Nice rig. How did you adapt the FX liner to your Prophet? Do you have a thread detailing the process?

I have been neglecting my Prophet for too long.
Although it is the P3 model, i do have the LR barrel
i hope to get some range time today, but everyone is gearing up for deer season, so the range has been very crowded
My Epoch loves the JTS 22.07g pellets, so i will try them in the P3.
I still am trying to make the Beasts work,..upped the velocity to 1050+ ..might work, but the shot count suffers
I have the extra plenums that allow me to get to this velocity
i'll also give the Grands a try..not sure of the velocity, but i am guessing 960 fps+
Probably sling the JTS a bit faster..they seem to like the speed while maintaining stability
but i also want to try out the 18.1g JSB's...have an excess of those i need to use

will try to post results later ...if the deer stalkers allow me time

I built the adapter probably four years ago. At that time I had a TJ barrel on my Priest ll, but it only shot heavier slugs quite fast. So I wanted to stay with .25 but shoot a slug at friendlier settings. So that gun had a 500mm superior for a while. The gun eventually went back to the CZ and pellets. The light FX barrel really doesn’t do these guns any favors in larger calibers because the gun gets even more jumpy. I kept the adapter when I sold the gun because it was no fun to build. After not being impressed with RTI’s .30 barrel, it was back to the FX barrel until I can find a good .30 blank.

My .30 barrel has potential. I shot it a few times at my brother’s house this spring where I have 100 yards - but it was in heavy wind conditions - April in Connecticut.

I just love .25 caliber - especially the 25.4g .25 caliber pellet. So I “stockpiled” a 2nd .25LR barrel, lol. You can utilize a much milder tune for .25 25.4g vs. .22 25.4g.

Both the .22 and .25 RTI Long Range barrels have the same slow 1:32 twist rate.

They only made the .25LR during the last year of P1 production. Most P1 .25s were produced with CZ barrels I believe.

I’m retiring at the end of this year, so I’m looking forward to spending a bunch of time at 75 yards with the P1 and .22LR .25LR and .30 barrels next spring. Then I’ll move out to 100 - but I’ve noticed that beyond 75, my wind reading skills are not up to truly evaluating the performance of my tuning on the various calibers.
