April 1 & 2 shooting

So 2 days of decent weather so i an now down 1200 13 gr slugs and 350 16 gr slugs.

our " needle " target need a little more reward for hitting the little 6 mm lole, and while the shooting gallery chalks work we like a little more visual.
So i modded the chalks, meaning the hole in them that hold them in the shooting gallery, well we dont need that so i filled those up with chalk powder.
And that is immensely better, now i just need to figure out how to have it stay in there after the end have been shot up, i an thinking make the colored chalk a paste and fill that into the hole in the chalk stick, and then let it dry.

Have to do that or the powder will just empty out after 1 shot, and really the dispenser / magazine setup we have on the back of the needle target mean you ned 4 shots to chew up one of these 2" or so chalks.

Test shooting a modified chalk, mind you here it all go up in " smoke "

Also reied to shoot the colored chalks i got, but the 13 gr slugs almost drill the entire 20 mm in diameter chalk, and factoring in how light and fragile these feel i was amazed to see this when my friend had been to the 100 yard target to set up nes stuff and brought this back.

TBH i thought i just nicked the piece of chalk i sawed off a larger piece ( kids stuff to draw on the pavement )

BUT ! you literally drill them and the explosion of dust from the hit is not that big really.

My fried was pretty chuffed about the one 2" SNS target he shot at 100 yards.

And it is not bad.
His mistake though was, he left 1 clean SNS target for me, and so i dropped 5 too ( friend needed 7 shots to get 5 on the target )

But EXTREMELY bad news. 😡

The high pressure 4 stage / cylinder on my Tuxing compressor have broken so it will only do 240 BAR now.
The thing 1 year and like 10 months old, and have not even reached the recommended time for the first oil change, so not a lot of hours on it. 😭

Fantastic shooting! So sorry about your compressor...🥺. Your Epic2 is very accurate as you are also!

Well i did fight the Two yesterday, in my last overhaul ( lube job ) i made a small change on the firering valve, and that was poor judgment on my part.
So after the first box of 13 gr slugs i took the Two apart on the bench and sorted my valve, and BAM i was in the money again.

One other thing i noticed today, when i started shooting around 10 it was still a bit nippy outside, and when i started shooting my shot string was aside for first slightly out of order shot, the next 10-15 shots was the exactly same speed, but then the string started to fluctuate as my rifle dropped from a higher inside temperature, and after 40-50 or so shots the string was so uneven i had to do hammer changes.

It seem like airguns / some airguns not liking cold weather too much is nothing new, i also hear the new RTI is not at all a happy camper in cold weather.
Mind you i did get my string in working order again, but what worked excellent last afternoon / early evening, did not work today at least not after a few shots.

Alsi tried a few Beast pellets before i changed to 16 gr slugs, not at all a success, but i did expect this CUZ it was also my feeling when i shot the first part of that tin.
JTS / JSB regular diabolo pellets in the 10.?? gr weights work fine, or they did last summer at least. MRD pellets also seem to be working, though i think more meddeling can make them even better.

I still have my backup fill, in the form of Viking airgunner / Peter, his Bauer Junior compressor is still going strong.

BTW also tweaked more on trigger the day before this outing, it can not get any lighter first stage and trigger break, stage #1 very short now, you do not want to mess around with my trigger, ans you go for it you are committed to the shot.
