I've got two, technically 3 FX Mavericks, first was a .25 vp because I wanted the 600mm barrel but I swapped out the bottle for carbon/alum. More capacity, I'm not lugging it but it's not too bad. Have a .25 sniper, pre abused, converted to a .22 compact. (#2 & 3) Mavericks have their little issues but it you address them immediately you will be good to go. You'll hear about "OH all of the o-rings", meh happens on any gun. The regs work ok, if you don't do anything stupid, there are some trick to get them really nice, cheap and easy fixes with a bit of hair pulling, two very small brittle o-rings. Would I buy another, the answer is probably. I have another airgun, more expensive and it leaks, from somewhere, have yet to find it, may never find it. Both Maverick hold air forever. Both Mavericks will do in ground squirrels at 100 yards, with pellets or slugs, both AEA. EnjoyThe only reason I put FX in the subject is because that is currently what I am looking at. The question itself is for any gun that is considered in the high price range. I'm trying to get a feel for how the community feels about expensive PCP rifles.
I'm not just looking at FX rifles, just that the Maverick VP caught my eye. The Vulcan 3 that Zeke mentioned also looks appealing as well.
I'm a firm believer in Buy the best you can afford and be happy. It dont take a $300 dollar fishing real to catch a fish. For the price of an FX barrel (around $300)I can buy an entire air gun.
Many decent PCPs around $300.
I plan on hunting them at night and where I hunt at isn't that far from other homes. I like my neighbors (they are hunters as well and will let me hunt their land), so I rather not bother their sleep. I want to use a suppressor but don't want to be on the books for buying one, nor pay the extra tax for one.Wonder why you want to use .30 PCP for coyotes? In any case it will be more expensive than .22LR, both the cost of rifle and cost of round, but maybe your place permits shooting them with airgun, but bans discharging firearms?
Moderators for airguns don't require anything but buying it. Not regulated except in a few states, check your local law. You don't give a location but I'm going to guess AZ. Just remember, more air, more noise. I've tested a bunch of Moderators and always come back to Donny FL.I plan on hunting them at night and where I hunt at isn't that far from other homes. Where I live just about anything goes for coyotes and it is legal to hunt them at all times. I could use my AR to get rid of them (this is what many people around here use). But as I said that would be too noisy. I don't have a bow/crossbow and honestly I don't want one. No offense to bow hunters, just not my thing.
You make a valid point, and while I do not own any FX guns, I do own one $300 gun, One $900 (before mods) gun, and one $1500 gun.For the price of an FX barrel (around $300)I can buy an entire air gun.

Mine make me happy and my wife does know about them. But she has horses, so my hobby is economy class by comparison.Everything you buy is worth it
if it makes you happy
and your wife doesn't know about it
Your wife will catch up at some point !
Nope. What I've found is that once I had accumulated 30 or so guns that my wife couldn't tell them apart. Now if I came home with a blunderbuss or a 45-70 revolver then I'd have to tell her about it, but just another airgun with a bottle up front, a springer, a Glock or bolt action rifle, those won't get a second glance.Everything you buy is worth it

.30 PCP is as loud as .22LR is. The only difference, yes, you can get a suppressor for PCP without A T F (Alphabet org? wth?) involved.I plan on hunting them at night and where I hunt at isn't that far from other homes. The solution to the wife problem is to somehow accumulate many airguns without her knowing.Nope. What I've found is that once I had accumulated 30 or so guns that my wife couldn't tell them apart. I tried it with Ducati motorcycles and it wasn’t quite as successful. The solution to the wife proiblem is to somehow accumulate many airguns without her knowing.
After you have enough airguns she won't know the difference
That is because you did not have enough of them.I tried it with Ducati motorcycles and it wasn’t quite as successful.
