RAW Rapid Are my expectations to high?

Raydee, have you tried the lighter pellets?
I had a .25 Raw that liked the lighter pellets much better.
I think you should be able to get groups like those excellent two on your targets more often than not.
You definitely are not expecting too much from a PCP.
No I have only tried the pellets that were recommended by Utah air. I am going to try other pellets for sure.

Hey Raydee38 these pellets worked great in my RedWolf .22 I got them from AOA.
I’d order some and see how they do. Good luck!

By the time you have adjusted this or tighened that, tried this or that, you could have just sent it to Martin.
I always tinker around on my RAW, but i am not that good at it..I will break a piece off, or completely mess something up. In these times(much to frequent) I will call Martin and tell him i messed up again. I just did that last week on a regulator. Called him up and told him what i did. We had a laugh about it, and he told me to send him the regulator and he'll fix it.
He's such a nice man to talk to..when he's got the time.
I can understand trying to figure it out...most of us like to tinker. But where you are trying...Martin Knows.
I do understand that this is not from Martin, but from Utah Airguns, but i would still call Martin to get it looked at and tuned.
You say last resort..i say first choice
give him a call Martin Rutterford - 931-638-0241

SO just wanted to update this thread, after not being able to find the legendary RAW accuracy after months of playing and tuning I finally decided to buy a bore scope and take a closer look at the barrel. I am not sure what I am seeing but I am not sure this is right.

Whoa..that looks messed-up

I am in contact with Martin about the barrel. I noticed that my .22 RAW will shoot a full tin and hardly have any lead in the barrel. This .25 barrel looks like the first video after only 50 pellets. I am thinking all those chatter marks in the barrel are severely deforming the pellets and causing the barrel to lead up much faster than normal. Hopefully Martin will agree that this barrel is bad and if not, I will either have to find another barrel or look at another manufacturer.

but did you see that barrel??
Martin does wonders ..but i'd send that back after seeing the condition of the barrel
I am really hoping I don't have to send the gun back for a simple barrel swap. At this point I think any barrel would be better than what I have. I just went to bore scope my RAW 22 barrel but with the older large mod on the barrel my scope was just not long enough to reach the breach. Maybe these marks are normal? Has anyone else scoped their RAW barrel?

I have been experiencing some bad barrels in RAW HM1000X .22 which are now being made by Airforce.

I advise everyone who lives in states to get the gun made directly from Martin.

Airforce gets annoy as they say that they have a large testing facility and every gun is tested at 100 yards.

I am not concerned with their testing facilities, rather I am interested in what the gun does in my hands.

My HM1000X Chassis Rifle was purchased from Utah Air. They get them from the Rapid Air Worx factory in Texas. Steve Scialli/AEAC did a factory tour and video which includes the manufacturing and testing process - link below. Wind-free 100 yard testing is done for each rifle. The .25 caliber test is done with JSB King Heavy 33.95 grain pellets (not MKII.) Each rifle is expected to produce MOA or sub-MOA groups - 1/2" to 1" at 100 yards. If they don't they go back through qc and adjusting procedures. I don't think Martin has anything to do with rifles sold by Utah Air. Before buying my rifle I communicated with Martin and he told me he uses the same components that Rapid Air Worx uses and the only reason to order direct from him is if I needed a particular setup or tune not offered by RAW in Texas. My HM1000X has proved to be very accurate and stable shooting MOA or sub-MOA. I did tune it down a bit from the factory 910 fps to 872 fps and the results were what I was looking for. Any inaccuracies I've experienced can be attributed to either the wind or to me - I'm not perfect! By the way, Rapid Air Worx does not recommend or support the use of slugs even though it would appear they do from comments made in the AEAC Factory Tour video.

I had a good conversation with Martin today, he was very nice and knowledgeable. He gave me some idea's to try before I decide if I want to switch to .22 caliber (Barrels are hard to get right now). If I can't get the .25 barrel to group better, I may take it off and polish the chamber end some just to make sure there aren't any raised burrs causing the pellet to get damaged (Martin does not feel that is the case).

I do have an older HM1000X RAW in .22 caliber that I could steal the barrel and probe from, but I was hoping to keep that rifle whole......for now anyway.
