ARH (Maccari) Tuned HW35E

I just wanted to give a shout out to ARH for putting together one heck of a kit for the HW35E. Aside from the kit, the barrel has been polished using Kroil, JB Bore Paste, and a dab of Permatex Valve Grinding Compound. It took nearly 200 shots to re-season the barrel, but this gun is shooting better than ever with JSB Exact 15.89gr.

Shot string as follows:

6x 5 shots groups at 32yds (light wind <5mph):

For giggles, I shot a 15 shot group with 5.53 FTTs. Before the polish, this gun preferred 5.54 and was pretty fussy with the 5.53s. Now it is fussy with 5.54 and seems to like the 5.53s... I can't seem to explain that. Low right "flier" was me. Its dark out and I'm using a UTG compact so it was a bit hard to see. I'm think I'm going to need to test these 5.53s a bit more now too.

Can't complain about those groups! What made you decide to polish the bore? What was your polishing procedure? Full length or just the tight spots?
I was getting really inconsistent groupings from this gun. It would go pellet on pellet, random string of fliers, pellet, on pellet, and repeat for no real rhyme or reason. I pushed a pellet through and really wasn't a fan of the rifle markings that showed up when it popped out.

There really weren't any excessive tight spots though. I polished (pretty lightly) the whole length including the choke, but was very, very light at the choke to avoid messing with the crown.

Forgot the how portion of the question. It was just a bore mop on a carbon fiber rod, covered in JB Bore Paste, dipped in Kroil, and then a bit of valve grinding compound for a little zest. From there I just worked that in until I got a little shine in there.

Small world, wouldn’t want to paint it!
I had my 35E .22 shooting today. Last time I shot it, it was like a scatter gun, with AA’s 16g. Today I as well used JSB 15.89. with shot on shot at 30 yds. Amazed at the difference between the 2 rounds. No pics pouring rain. Crazy how much rain we’re getting.
Great shooting. Enjoy your 35e Crow

I installed an ARH kit, Vortek seal with Krytox GPL-205 lube and it sure made a large difference in my HW95L .22. My rifle also seems to shoot well with the FTT 14.66 gr 5.53mm pellets. My FPS average is 720 and the groups are good at about 1" to 1.5" at 25 yards. The rifle is absolutely soundless until the piston latches on the trigger and the shot sound is a sharp thud. Good luck.

Thank you and you too! Sorry you got rained out man. it always seems to happen on a day off.

It is definitely one of my favorite gun to shoot, but holy sewer pickles can it be frustrating sometimes. Every time I think I have it down, the next time I pick it up, I don't haha. I have to relearn it every time. I think this time may be different though!

The 95L is gorgeous man. I'm jealous! Thats some good velocity in a a 95. I'm running my 97 at basically the same velocity but with a Vortek kit. It strongly prefers the 5.54 FTTs if you haven't tried them yet. My buddies 97 likes to go one step further and uses the 5.55s
