Arizona XFT update

There have been a couple recent inquiries about Xtreme Field Target matches.....

While Ben has been focusing on AAFTA-type matches through these summer months, he is in discussions about a possible northern (cooler) XFT match sometimes in the next two months. If that doesn't pan out, day time XFT matches @ Phoenix Rod and Gun Club are scheduled to return in September.

In addition, Ben said that if there's enough interest in a July XFT match he's willing to set up a course and hold a match. It would be fourth Saturday, and need to start at 8pm to be cooler. A XFT night match on 4th Sat in July would be INSTEAD OF a sub20fpe/AAFTA style match.

If interested in attending either, please comment here with your preference of XFT or sub20fpe match for the 4th Saturday in July.

Sorry to say that I will not be able to attend any matches held in Phoenix until about October when the heat cools down a bit. I have a tough time trying to deal with the heat. Start feeling ill. Last weekends match was about my heat limit but I was able to complete the course. Having said that, I would be interested in XFT or AAFTA matches in the mountains!
Thx
Dan

Chances are slim for me to make it to the July night match on 4th Saturday....but I'm super excited for an XFT match after testing out the new .20 NSA slugs this weekend. They seem pretty promising.

Generally, I would prefer to see XFT matches at PRGC over regular field target matches. Don't get me wrong, any field target match is great, and it's awesome that we have so many chances to compete with airguns here in AZ, but that's kinda the point also. We have lots of other opportunities to shoot regular AAFTA style ft matches (under 20fpe and under 55 yards). But we only have one place to shoot XFT.

So, most of the time, I'd like to see Ben's matches be XFT matches. And the greater variety in the courses the better. I know it's more work, but I'd like to see an entirely different course at PRGC for every XFT match. Ie, the shooting mats don't necessarily need moved, but if we're giving input, mine is to change angles and distances of all the targets on a monthly basis.

I've only been to a couple of Bens PRGC matches so far and had a great time at both the XFT and <20 AAFTA style FT matches so I can't say I have a preference. Ben and the guys do an excellent job at both!
Living way down in southern AZ it's quite a drive to get to any shoot. So, yes, there's "lots of other opportunities" to shoot matches but it's usually quite a hike for a lot of folks to participate.
From here it's 3+ hours to Phx. or the (new this year) Duncan,AZ shoot. It's 5+ hours to Luna,NM and over 6 hours up to the summer shoots in the Flagstaff,AZ area.
Like @ XSUlitmate, as I'm getting older I have lost a lot of desire/ability to be out in the extreme heat of the Arizona summers, so the cooler temps up in the mountains certainly are appealing. Usually a 20 degree or more difference.
Thanks to all the different groups working to put on these shoots! You're doing a great job, keep up the good work.
