Arris carbon tubing from Amazon for FX barrel modification

Hey guys, hope you’re all doing well. I just wanted to let everyone know that the Arris carbon fiber tubing on Amazon works perfectly for FX liner modifications. I used this same stuff last June when I did some initial testing but decided not to use it permanently on my good liners, I didn’t see any improvement with my gun’s accuracy.

My gun is still very accurate but it can be hold sensitive at times. Now everyone is doing this mod with good results and it’s made me think of a couple ideas I want to try.

I bought some more of this tubing the other day and not only has the quality improved and it looks much nicer, each of the tubes slides perfectly in the next size larger tube. It’s a very tight fit, which is awesome, but will fit. I bought 8mmx10mm, 10mmx12mm, 12mmx14mm, 14mmx16mm and already have a bunch of random smaller pieces and larger sizes from 16mm to 32mm. If you want some, the prices are great and you’ll get it in 2 days. The 500mm or longer sizes take a couple weeks. Have a good day!

I originally worded this post wrong, sorry! If you are indeed looking for fiberglass tubing, I have purchased it in the past from Rock West Composites. They also sell carbon fiber tubing but it is much more expensive. If you are looking for a great price on well made, nice looking carbon fiber tubing, check out the Arris carbon tubing on Amazon. The quality is vastly improved from when I first bought it 9 months ago.

My gun was shooting very accurately when I attempted this the first time. It really would have been hard to improve on the accuracy. I really wanted to try and make the gun less hold sensitive. Didn’t see much improvement. This time, I’m going to try a couple of different things I haven’t seen done before. If they work well, I will share.

TheDog- some just use the tubing around the liner to stiffen the liner and allow you to get rid of the barrel tube and o-rings. Others use multiple layers and get rid of the shroud too. Still others use either a full length carbon tube or a chunk of carbon tube which allows you to use the moderator to tension the barrel. Again, I had mixed results, not all tensioned barrels work as they should, there are variables that can come into play if not done correctly. You can read more on making them, using them and that stuff here by doing a search or by watching one of Ernest’s videos.

I really just wanted to make people aware that the Arri carbon fiber tube’s quality is much improved and that you can get different thicknesses, lengths and diameters.

Hey Knifemaker, I’m sorry that my post wasn’t worded correctly and was a bit ambiguous The graphite tubing comes from Rock West Composites and the Carbon fiber tubing from Arris, sold on Amazon. Anything from Rock West Composites is great quality, they will even make custom lengths, sizes, wall thicknesses, diameters, etc. The carbon fiber tubing is usually much more expensive than other makers or importers but it’s very well made and high quality. I have purchased fiberglass tubing from them multiple times for spacers or for components that don’t require the rigidity of Carbon tubing. They offer a couple different types and it’s very cheap compared to carbon tubing as long as you don’t need the extreme rigidity. Sorry about my wording and that I sent you on a wild goose chase! My bad! 😝

Have a great weekend!

P.S. Knifemaker, what size fiberglass tubing are you looking for and how much? I have lots of scrap pieces and some pieces that I haven’t even touched yet.

I went on Amazon and found the tubing (thanks) and it's only available in 500mm lengths. Ernest Rowe uses 590mm for a 700mm barrel. Does using 2 pieces to make up the length have any adverse effect? If two different diameters of tubing were used over top of each other the cut end could be offset/overlapped by the different diameters, but I'm not sure if it would still fit in the steel sleeve. I have a 25cal and don't know the exact thickness (or thicknesses) to order. Any insight or info would be appreciated.
