ASC August FT Results

Well, I think a good time was had by all. It's hard to know for sure, the day turned into a hazy fever dream around 10am. But 16 brave souls said "Not today, satan" and came out to shoot some field target at ASC for our monthly match. The match was setup by Scott C under very loose, remote supervision by Jeff C (who was off waving the flag at the Pyramyd Cup). At the 9am match start it was hot. At the end, it was also hot. In between, hot. Not much wind to speak of, although it wouldn't have been unwelcome. The course was tough but unfair, average Troyer was 34, not adjusted for global warming. We had 1 standing lane and no kneeling lane. The standing lane was pretty difficult and the scores reflected that. Shooters came from as far as Oklahoma and San Antonio. Special thanks to the Darrochs (Kirk and James) for the extra help with taking down the course.

We had 8 shooters in Hunter PCP, with Ronaldo R running off with the thing with a nice 54, surpassing Mark W and newish shooter David T. That's called a trash BBQ sandwich, two pieces of Texas Toast with some Okie mystery meat in the middle.

We had 4 shooters that should know better by now shooting Hunter Piston. This was a tight race, with Eric P coming out on top with a 35. This shouldn't count because Eric didn't know he was going to shoot Hunter Piston until he got to the match, so he probably got a good night's sleep. Bill, myself and Robert were in a race to the bottom.

Finally we had 4 shooters in Unlimited. Due to a counting issue, first place was actually a tie between Curtis N and Paul (Pablo) B both shooting 36. The tie goes to Paul for amazingly hitting 5 of 6 offhand with a pistol, but Curtis gets special mention because he brought a new shooter, his brother Marty.

Next monthly match at ASC will be September 23rd.

Here are the scores.

I didn't take a lot of photos because it was too hot to go more than 10 feet. Here's what it looked like within 10 feet of me.

Pablo shooting his notoriously ugly Marauder pistol. Jerry can't watch. Good call, Jerry.

Mark realizing that he might beat David because David's hat isn't providing enough shade.

Robert coming to the realization that he might actually be right handed. That lefty HW97 is so pretty, I think he's forcing himself to shoot left handed.
