Events ASC FT Match December 21 Results

Good morning everyone,

ASC will have our next FT match on Saturday December 21, 2024 (the 3rd Saturday of the month) starting at 10:00am. Depending on the weather outlook this match could be a 56 or 48 shot rifle match with 3 targets per lane except for the Offhand and Kneeling lanes that will only have 2 targets per lane. Come out for the last FT match of the year at ASC.

For this match we are helping out Mission Arlington, so you can bring an unwrapped toy donation instead of match fees, and I encourage everyone to wear something festive for the upcoming Christmas Holidays.

Gates will open at 7:30 for sight in and sign up.
Safety meeting at 9:45. Rifle match to start at 10:00am.
All rifles must be in a case or rifle carrier when moving between lanes.
Please note that it is a club rule that all shooters wear appropriate EYE protection. We don't have extras so remember to bring your own.

ASC Members $5, non-Members $10

Arlington Sportsman’s Club is located at: 11500 County Road 525, Mansfield, TX 76063(Also called Lillian Road)

FT Match Report Arlington Sportsman’s Club 12/21/2024

I believe that it is finally winter here in North Texas. I say that because the temperature at match start time was 38F! It started out cold, but it was up to 57F and sunny by the time the match was over and turned out to be a beautiful winter day in our Great State of Texas. Nineteen shooters came out for our December match despite the cold weather, and over half brought new toy donations for Mission Arlington in lieu of a match fee. Thanks very much to those of you who remembered to bring a toy.

We didn’t have any new shooters this month, but we did have shooters using new/different guns including yours truly. First, Billy D was testing a Notos .22 caliber rifle that is his grandkids Christmas present for accuracy ;-), and Craig M brought out is RAW Micro Hunter that is usually taking out squirrels at the house and deer lease, and I brought out my 1992 AirArms NJR100 for the first time.

I had plans to shorten the course if the weather was bad, but I didn’t have to, so it was 58 shots on 10 lanes with only one off-hand lane and NO kneeling lane, because I decided to take it easy on old knees. But we didn’t take it easy on target placement! In fact, shooters had to move in the shooters box on about 4 of the lanes, and there were targets partially obscured by leaves, or partially hidden behind trees on a few other lanes. One lane was named “The Hippy Maker” because you had to hug the tree to be able to see the target! With the cold weather early, and the winter sun in the shooter’s eyes later, I believe the Troyer was higher than 30.5, SD 5.20, Avg Dist 33.9 yds, and Avg KZ 1.16”. Derrick W didn’t think the course was too tough, because he CLEANED it with 58/58. This is the first time I can remember someone cleaning one of the ASC FT courses in over 10 years. There have been shooters who were close, but never 100% clean. Great shooting Derrick.

Here are the results for December:
Derrick W won Hunter PCP and HOA with 58/58 shooting his AGT Vulcan 3, followed by Jim C in 2nd with 54/58 shooting his Daystate Redwolf, and then Scotty H in 3rd with 53/58 shooting is Benjamin Marauder for the last time. One noteworthy mention is that Susan G whooped her partner Paul K for the first time and finished 5th! Many congrats to you Susan. Paul B and Jerry C tied for Unlimited both scoring with 41/58. Rick K was unchallenged in Hunter Piston with 40/58 shooting his HW97K and Stan K was also unchallenged in WFTF PCP with 32/58 shooting his Steyer LG110. Remember to take a look at the growing content of our shooting score analyses website https://airgunshoot.com/ that shows the average score on each lane, your score on each lane, your hit percentage by lane or near/mid/far targets, how you compare to your class average, your class winner, and the HOA winner. Thanks to Scott Cotton for his continuing work on this.

Thanks to everyone for helping take down the course, it was very much appreciated by me and Scott once again, and thanks for coming out for what turned out to be a very enjoyable last FT match for 2024. Our January match will be on the Saturday January 25th (my birthday!).

See you at the next next match,

Jeff Cloud and Scott Cotton
