Assistance with 2240 Build

Hi All,
I am starting my second 2240 build and have several questions about the build.

My first question is about sources for target grips for 2240. Thank you!

Cheers

No website, only have this email to contact him with.

Steve Corcoran also makes very nice grips.

There are a few others but these guys are probably the best in the business

The pistol below is wearing Vernon Austin ambidextrous grips. I have a similar pair on my 1701P. The furniture on the carbine in the background came from a German maker on eBay. The forearm isn’t bad but the grips aren’t all that great so I’m not recommending them.

Link below has my two 2300 in Corcoran grips. Same frame as 2240. Love them. Haven’t tried Austin grips yet but supposed to be excellent. If you can shoot a notch rear site I’d go with the Williams if you can find it. Notice on my 2300S I’m using a peep. Old eyes won’t handle a rear notch.

I may have to try a peep on mine, as I hate to admit my eyes are not what they used to be. I'm right at the edge of the rear sight being too out of focus to get centered horizontally on target.
The peep is fun. Works very well. You have to be willing to get it pretty dang close to your face so wear safety glasses.

Corrective lenses unfortunately don’t help much with a traditional notch sight once you age enough. I can pick either having a clear sight picture or seeing the target clearly, but can’t have both! I actually have red dots on everything but the 2300S, that’s been a great fix for me.
I have heard that, been nearsighted most of my life, wearing glasses since about age 13, now 77. A couple of years ago, I had cataract surgery and distant vision is now perfect, but need glasses for reading. My solution was a set of progressive lenses, basically the opposite of what I used to wear since I am in the habit of reaching for glasses when I get out of bed. I have never, never, before or after the surgery had any problem with iron sights, either peep or notch types

Hi All,
Thank you for the guidance!

I have ordered the 2240, CO2 and Gamo .22 Wadcutters.

I understand that this build will never be an Olympic 10M, but I would like to try to build a 10M style 2240.

What is the most accurate 2240 barrel within reason? 14" .177 or 14" .22 ? I am thinking of target grips, barrel, metal sights, and breech.

Thank you!

I am from the USA living in Mexico City. Please tell me if anyone knows of an airgun club in Mexico City.

So far, I have emailed Sun City Airguns (very costly prices, $639 for an Air Venturi V10) and Armas de Aire Mexico (also expensive $479 + shipping for an Air Venturi V10), and neither responded with information about a club.

Thank you. The lil critter gitter is a Crosman Custom Shop gun. Hopefully they open it up again someday. Best thing you can do to a 2240 is work over the trigger. Even with adjustable trigger the sear still needs some deburring and polishing. The stock trigger can be made very serviceable. There’s a thread on here from nervoustrig, I’ll look for it. The stock Crosman barrels are very good. You could look for a Lothar Walther barrel but most of us will never notice the difference. Longer barrel will give you a little more power but may get fewer shots depending on where you set the hammer spring. That’s the other thing with a 2240, it’s a gas hog. My power adjuster is 7 turns out and still getting same FPS as before, but more shots per cartridge. Barrel length depends on how you’re going to configure. I like the stock length for a pistol.

You’re one of the lucky ones. Progressive lenses, close, mid, and long zones and not a dang one of them gives me a clear picture of both LOL. 10M and in is manageable but beyond that?… The shooting glasses I use with scopes have no mid range and it’s no better with them.

I have these but in ebony (very dense, heavy wood), from same seller.

Also some walnut ones.
