Just found out my red dot is a perfect circle, I guess I do have an Astigmatism...?

First...nothing...is "perfect".
But yes, if you see a, clean, "round" dot, it would indicate that you have little, to no astigmatism. Have you tried other than just the one dot sight ?

I too didn’t know I had it until I bought a red dot. For me reflex sights work better. I just bought a 2x red dot & outside it perfect inside it has some ghosting. https://a.co/d/4nql2eK I also found green works better for me. Blue blocker glasses is reported to help too, I just ordered a pair to try.

Hmm I am no fan of red dots, in fact I only have one on one of them evil black rifles & havnt shot it in years. Now I want to pull it out to see what I see. I got new glasses a cpl weeks ago & the opotmetrist said my astigmatism had gotten worse. Will have to check it out..

Lots of us, I bet wear Rx glasses. Astigmatisms can be corrected with the proper Rx. I hadn't had my eyes checked in three years or so, so I had my eyes examined 10 days ago. My new glasses get here on Monday, so I'm anxious to see how better they are compared to my old pair.

Cataracts would be more of a dull milky blurring. Or daylight would seem inexplicably dim.
I have fairly pronounced astigmatism. First learned about this phenomenon when I put a brand new eotech on an ar when I was 19. Damn thing looked like a giant red, round thumbprint. A 2moa dot will look like a half inch wide red splotch.
The corrective options today are incredible. I got for LASIK soon. Optometrist wanted to wait for the astigmatism to stabilize for while.

Fortunately at 77 no cataracts yet. Astigmatism, since 4th grade. A Firedot type reticle, no problem.

With a fine tuned script the dots can be laser sharp. In lower light still presents a small doubling issue

I have astigmatism and can’t use a red dot it’s just a blurry spot. If I look through my phone camera at it it’s clear and unblurred. Scopes with etched dots or target rings that are illuminated are all I can use (plus it still works fine if the battery is dead)

Getting your first red dot or reflex sight and subsequently learning that you have an astigmatism is akin to going to the optometrist for the first time. Sucks to "see" that too, but probably a wake up call to make an appointment to get a consultation.

I said this on another thread, and I will say it on a hundred more probably, bring a red dot sight with you when you pick up your new glasses and check that they ground your lenses correctly, before you pay. Most people don't have a way of checking and they often grind them wrong.

I have some degree of astigmatism and most red dots appear as a "comet".
A friend recommended an Ultradot Matchdot II sight so I tried one and most of the time it appears as a "dot" and not a "comet".
I'm really happy with it. It's working for me. YMMV.

I got the crap to , My red dots are not dots , But with my pistols I shoot to kill the cans and pill bottles,,, I just put the red blob on the target and shoot, I am not looking for hole in hole shooting as I do with my bull Pups with the big scopes ,, I Jan, 2025 I go to a optometrist and the red dot question will come up , Its why I am going ,

I have the same problem with red dots but much less with reflex sights. I tried a DaggerDefense DD240 & outside there is one single clear dot. When I took it inside the dot is burly but if I put a spotlight on the target it clears up but still not as good as outside.
