So, I took receipt of a Hatsan AT44 Long QE yesterday, but not the one I was expecting. I ordered the model with no open sights but received the model with open sights. I ordered it refurbished from Hatsan USA since they are pretty much unobtanium anywhere else.
The reason I want the model w/o sights is the QE moderator is less complex without the internal mounting ring. It also allows for the possible use of other baffle stacks.
Another reason is the receiver is milled to accept the rear sight, removing some of the Weaver slots. I am putting a long scope on it and the milled receiver makes me place the front ring right up against the clip slot.
My dilemma is whether I make the effort to get Hatsan to fix the problem, assuming it can be fixed. While Hatsan shows both models available, I may try to get it fixed and find out they really don't have any of the non open sight models available. I would hate to make the effort and end up without either of the rifles. I can make the one I have work, it just isn't exactly what I wanted. I also accept there is an argument for keeping and having the open sights in the unlikely event I, or the next owner, may want to use the open sights.
Thoughts?
